We booked four rooms for three nights but could not get out fast enough the next morning. The rooms were bug infested, a rat ran across one of our beds in the middle of the night. The fans didn't work, no wifi as advertized. No massage available. The floating pool was some wooden planks around the dirtiest river we had...

Exactly, after originally booking ten rooms, then changing the booking to four rooms for three nights and the exchange of 15 different emails constantly changing the itinerary, all of which I happily and politely did, you arrived in the afternoon and left the next morning. Still, I was polite and nice and didn't charge you for the four rooms or...

This resort is away from city centre and that is not easy to reach by public transport, however, this gives Rivertime a unique character. Dorm room is basic but comfortable for staying. Staff are EXTREAMLY friendly and they always carry a smile on their face! There is a village across the river which is very interesting to explore. The floating...

What a great place to totally chill out from the stresses and strains of normal day to day life. Accomodation is basic but totally acceptable. Barnaby the Manager makes you feel very welcome and is very knowledgable about the area. If you want to see the true Laos this is the place to come.

The Rivertime is a great place to chill out and enjoy the laid back rural lifestyle of Laos. The rooms and environment are lovely in a rustic kind of way. The Hotel organized some nice simple rural activities with visits to local villges. The highlight being the spirit healer; a remarkable and unique experience. The staff are sweet and friendly...

I can't necessarily disagree with the prior reviewer (who I think I remember being there at the same time as we were); it is a lovely place, Barnaby is a super nice guy, and the ecolodge offers a beautiful glimpse into rural Laos. I have to be fair, however, in letting travelers know my honest opinion about the overall experience...

I do think you're being rather unfair considering you arrived on Christmas Day and we were full so obviously it was busy and, yes, sometimes, if staff are busy with other guests or guests are using the boat, bicycles etc then, at such times, you may not be able to do a particular activity at the exact time you want...

There's really nothing bad to say about the joint. Barnaby is an excellent host, as is his entire staff. Everyone is super-friendly and more than helpful...the entire place has positively glowing vibe. The food is most delicious, though may take a bit sometimes to receive if it's busy, it's definitely worth the wait. The location is brilliant: beautiful, quiet, peaceful,...

In short: a great, friendly and welcome place to stay and relax. I stayed for 5 nights, but when the time came to leave, even that seemed to short! As previous reviews have stated, do not expect 5 star service and accomodation, but do expect a very warm and genuine experience. I would highly recommend as it is a great...

When I came across a description of Rivertime Resort & Ecolodge, the place immediately appealed to me. Visiting the place in October 2010, I was not disappointed. The major attraction of this resort is its location. And although it is very close to the capital Vientiane, you arrive in a very different world: the relaxed Lao countryside. The friendly local...

If you're looking for pristine, sanitised, five star accommodation then you're probably better off looking elsewhere, but if you're looking for a place to relax, unwind, and get to know more about the people and country of Laos then you can do no better than to spend a few days at Rivertime. Barnaby the manager is absolutely lovely, and he...

I'm glad you liked it, it was nice to meet you and a pleasure having you both here. However, I just want to clarify that we're 29 km from Vientiane not 40 km! It takes about 40-45 mins in a car or about an hour in the shared tuk-tuk! Hopefully see you again!

We stayed at this fantastic riverside lodge back in February 2010 during the new owner/managers handover and with no disrespect to the outgoing manager I was pleased that Barnaby was at the helm as his enthusiasm, knowledge and concern for his guests was admirable. I chose this accommodation based on previous TA reviews as I was looking for somewhere to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a riverside ecolodge resort only 30 km outside of Vientiane which offers a true taste of rural Lao life but with most of the comforts of home. We have a floating restaurant on the river and offer a range of activities such as local village tours, tubing, cooking classes, massage, a sauna nearby, boat trips, fishing, free bicycles etc. We do our best to live in harmony with both the local people and the surrounding forest. We also donate $2 per guest night to local education and community projects. ... more   less
