Beautiful building, good service, and quiet. What else can one ask for? Breakfast was in the charming restaurant area and for some reason few were dining there when we did our two mornings at the hotel. We did not dine at the hotel for our dinners in Vientiane so cannot comment on the restaurant.

Lovely old building in one of the many scruffy streets but central for restaurants and the river. Rooms good size and bathrooms fine. Limited glass bottle water, one has to call for more and decant to plastic. Rugs in room tend to slip and also ruck so can be a hazard especially emerging from bathroom. Our rooms had no guide...

We thought this hotel would be up to high standards as w those we had already booked thoughout Laos. Our room on the ground floor seemed in a cornor at first no outlook but after reading other peoples problems it was probadly the best of the worst. The room smelt of smoke and we were assured all rooms were non...

We arrived in Vientiane from Bangkok ( where we were on our annual trip to see our son and his family). In previous years we had added Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore to our trips but we hadn't been to Lao (or Myanmar as yet - 2014?). Our travel agent recommended the Settha Palace and we booked the transfer (from...

This hotel has some colonial charm but has probably outlived its best days and does not seem to be keeping up to pace with some of the new places being built in town. It is also a bit peripheral to the center of town. The room was pretty comfortable and had decent wifi. The staff was nice and pretty helpful...

We stayed 2 nights, and enjoyed the sophistacated French colonial architecture and quiet setting. Our room, facing the pool area, had very high ceilings, marble bath, large comfortable bed and excellent climate control. We found the bar, restaurant and pool all very good. Wifi was occasionally spotty, and on the day we were there, the pool was a bit crowded,...

Hotel 5 of 5 on a two week trip through Cambodia and Laos. Chosen for predominantly positive reviews here, that they had a pool and the horrible reviews of many other Vientiane properties. Very satisfied. Arrival by taxi ($7 fixed from airport) greeted by eager valet and white gloved doorman, escorted to a comfortable sit down check in with welcome...

To start with the positive: the hotel is not badmy situated. Within reasonable distance to the center of town. The building itself is of interesting architecture (French colonial house) and well renovated and maintained. The rest is less positive. First the restaurant: Charging a high price is allowed. In exchange quality food and good service should be provided. This was...

We generally enjoyed our stay but try to avoid staying in a room that faces Rue Pangkham unless you want to be serenaded nightly by the Beerlao-fuelled karaoke brigade at a restaurant across the road. Double glazed windows might be an idea or offering guests Formula 1 style earplugs at least. Breakfast was a bit spartan for the so-called best...

A French Chef, a French Restaurant Manager and a French General Manager, gave the hotel (of course) a typically French feel. It was clean and tidy, with the front desk/concierge service mostly excellent. One particular member of staff requires particular attention for service excellence and that is Sarah. The Hotel is perfectly situated for walking into and around the city...
