It all started when we fell in love with a hidden gem of French-Khmer architecture from the 1920s near Wat Botum, one of the most venerable and original pagodas in Phnom Penh. Renovation and remodeling were led with due respect for the character of a building which had been, as we learnt it later on, a private retreat for Queen Consort Sisowath Kossamak, the late King Sihanouk's mother. Opened on August, 18, 2006 with 10 rooms, The Pavilion has slowly expanded over the years, offering now 36 accommodations throughout three more period buildings that have been added to the property: "The New House", former residence of the chief veterinarian at the Royal Palace; "The New Villa", formerly the private residence of a Cambodian senator, and "The Sun-Pool Villa", our latest addition which used to be lodgings for diplomats based in Phnom Penh. Each one has its own style and atmosphere, with distinctive architectural features such as an elaborate wooden stairway, intricate iron wrought railings, etc…

A little paradise of tranquility amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. Two lovely pools, excellent reasonably priced food and wonderful cocktails. It would have been good if we could have got into our room before 2.30 as we were terribly jet lagged and dozed on the sun beds

The Pavilion proved to be the perfect choice for our 5 night stay in Phnom Penh. A small hotel full of character and charm. Walking distance to many of the city's attractions and a short tuk-tuk ride to those a bit further away. Close too to several good restaurants if you don't

We only had one night at the Pavilion and wished we had several more. It was one of the prettiest hotels we stayed at in Southeast Asia, with a beautiful pool and grounds. We also had an out-of-the way room with two sides of glass walls in its own little garden. The main

We took the Train to Sihanoukville and found it both safe and easy, although it was time consuming. The website says 6 hours but the trip took 8. That said, the scenery is beautiful. There is no food service so bring snacks or buy them at the stations along the way. We took a 1st Class bus back which was a much shorter 3.5 hours.

Hello thank you for your message. The pool room is smaller than our suite rooms but there is still plenty of space for two people. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Hello Koalakim, Thank you for your message and interest in Pavilion. All twin rooms on the upper floor/first floor in the New Villa. Please bear in mind that they overlook private pool rooms so windows are slightly frosted to ensure privacy. Please see further photos on our website. We hope to welcome you soon. Best regards, Alice
