We arrived after 24 hours of travelling, tired and in need of a shower! Sadly there was no hot water!...for 3 days!!! I realise we didn't pay a lot for the room (around$50/ night) but I think we could've done better.

Yes the hotel does provide transport/transfer to and from the airport at a cost of $20USD each way. This is roughly 450,000VND or $30AUD. I would not rely solely on Internet contact. Give them a call (they speak English, just speak slowly) to ensure an airport transfer is arranged properly.
Catching a cab located immediately outside the entry doors of the airport would cost only 150000VND or $9AUD or $6.50USD. I would recommend this option instead. This way is one third the price for the exact same service. All the hotel does is use a dedicated taxi service that specialises in airport transfer. Same same
You'll hear horror stories of cabbies ripping people off but I used taxis over 50 times in my 12 day stay and wasn't ripped off once. Stick to VINASUN or MAILINH taxi companies and you'll be fine.
Hope this helps
