We stayed here over lunar new year and enjoyed every minute. The ladies on reception were extremely helpful, we booked trips to Sapa and Halong Bay through them and both of the tours were excellent and good value for money. When booking the Halong Bay trip the lady who runs the hotel encouraged us to pay a little extra rather...

After traveling for 2 months this is by far the dirtiest place we had the misfortune of staying. Met from the bus stop we were told " we have clean modern rooms, only 8 and 10 dollars." as u may have guessed when we arrived the rooms had jumped up to 12 dollars and the elusive 8 dollar room had...

I was taken to this place from the bus station, and as i didn't feel very well i decided to stay here, since it was just for one night. Rooms were suppose be $8, on arrival i was told that only one room comes in that price, its based next to very noisy reception with the TV on,hanging on the...

I stayed here while waiting for a flight to Bangkok, and was looking for a cheap room in Hanoi. The hotel is compact as was the room, however it was great value ($8) with a bathroom. The room was clean, but without a window and did get a little bit of the road noise from outside. The staff are really...

In retrospect, I wish we read these reviews before having any dealings with Star Old Quarters, 29 Bat Dan Street. I can also confirm that the Manager "Huan" is a little hot headed man and a wicked liar. We arranged a train trip from Hanoi to Lao Cai (Sapa) and a morning bus from Lao Cai to Kunming, China. We...

We had an horrendous experience here. We are the 2 girls referred to in the previous review with the leaky ceiling. We arrived in the morning and waited ages to be given a room. The owner was kicking other guests out of their rooms from 7.30am onwards to make space for the new arrivals. We were given a room which...

Exactly the same thing happened with me and my friend, we were kicked out as didn't want to book his expensive local bus to Laos. The 'boy' who seems to be running the place became very aggressive and told us to leave, after we had been there for most for most of the day. He'd picked us up from the...

Avoid Star Old Quarters in Hanoi! The owner offered us a room for 12 US$ and asked us, if we wanted to book a Halong Bay trip with him as well. When we came back from town, I told him that we already booked a tour somewhere else. After staying in our room for a while, he came knocking on...
