Upon appearance this hotel looks rather elegant and really quite charming and in a great location, close to local markets and bars and a good base for tours. The lobby is gorgeous and the lady checking us in was very informative and polite. The room we were given on the 18th floor. (1826) was huge and although dated was still very nice and with a great view of the city. The pool area is lovely too, but as you can imagine the bar prices were expensive. The good ended there. The lifts take far too long to come down. There is an express lift but is no faster. The wifi is very hit and miss. The beds were awful and were sleeping on concrete blocks. Had the worst night’s sleep for the 1st of 2 nights. 2nd night we actually slept quite well but mainly due to being so tired from the night before. The shower is nothing but a trickle, and there is a ledge on the floor in the doorway when entering the bathroom which is very easy to trip over, maybe get some yellow tape on it. Breakfast was mainly catered for asians, not many western options at all, and what was there was grim, we had breakfast included but didn’t bother the next day. Over all it is good value for money and if they were to change the mattress I would stay again but the beds were just truly abysmal.

We were in this hotel as part of a large group for a soccer tournament. The building looks as if it was once a fairly grand place, but it’s definitely in need of a refurbishment. Our room had a toilet that required multiple flushes every time, a lackluster air conditioner, and a sink that leaked water onto the floor. Other members from our group variously complained about poor air conditioning, uncomfortable mattresses, and toilet problems which they did not describe further for us. But suffice it to say that you should be prepared to be understanding. There were four elevators in the bank, but only three were in service during the whole week. Most of the time we would have to wait for at least a minute to a few minutes for an elevator, and often we would take the stairs, even going from the 12th floor to the 2rd floor for breakfast. The morning breakfast was one of the better parts, featuring a wide variety of cut fruit, eggs, bacon, Muslim-friendly food, Asian food, toast, and a few pastries. The coffee machine was in near constant use and during peak hours, there was always a line for it. The tea was made in pots with a few tea bags, and most of the time it was pretty weak, especially for English people. Dinners and a couple of banquets were included for our group. The food was adequate, but at least a couple of nights it was served nearly cold and on one night, all of the food was spicy enough that many people could not tolerate it. Desserts are also not that palatable to western palates, though the fruit was always nice. There is a swimming pool and lounge chairs on the fourth floor that was pretty, but the water was chilly for swimming, even when the temperatures outside were quite warm. The location of the hotel is probably the best part, being only a couple of blocks from rows of night markets, street food, and a few restaurants. There were also a grocery store, a pharmacy, Starbucks, and McDonalds within a five minute walk. Taxis went by frequently, so there was easy transportation wherever you need to go. The hotel also provides transportation to and from the airport for 150 BHT per person each way, but needs to be arranged ahead of time.

Hotel is in great location close to the night markets and old city and there are plenty of shops nearby. The room is starting to show it’s age and the air con is not as good as it could be. Pool area was nice. However, for the price I believe it’s a great budget option for some visit ing the city for the first time. Good in the restaurant was good and the buffet breakfast although lacking still had plenty of choices. Staff at times seemed to be disinterested but I think the lack of tourists has something to do with that. I would definitely consider it again for my next trip to Chiang Mai

Enjoyed my stay there in the Duangtawan hotel Chiangmai Thailand. Immediately I was upgraded to a business room so that was a great start. Room was on the 21st floor with a great view of the city. Pool on the fourth floor was a great facility. Room was very good with all the trimmings. The shower was the only weak point with a door that was awkward to close and control of the temperature difficult. Located close to the Night Market and many tourist attractions it is an excellent location. Even found an Irish Bar beside the hotel called O'Malleys with good foreign food. All in all enjoyed my short stay and would stay there again on my next visit.

I had booked a junior suite for 1 night. The air conditioning was not cooling and nor was the phone. On approaching the reception, I met Mr.Runt.(he refused to give his full name, and had no name tag on his shirt) He said he is the guest service agent. The technician did come to the room to try and solve the aircon cooling without any luck. I then asked Mr Runt to change my room to 1 with a more efficient cooling. He had the audacity to tell me to shift to a single room. This is the first time a guest is downgraded due to a fault in the room. Mr Runt the started getting and speaking in a aggressive and rude tone. I asked him to mind his tone and then he went on a rant as to how all the Middle Eastern guests love him. How is that any of my concern? I must say that this has been the worst experience in any hotel I have stayed at in my life. (I have been to Thailand over 25 times)

I've actually stayed here several times pre-COVID. I get the feeling they are just trying to "hang-on" until the COVID mess is over. The A/C was very poor, the safety box did not work, and there are no English speaking TV choices. Breakfast was more limited than before, but still enough choices to start my day.

When this hotel opened it was pretty amazing, over the years it's seen a decline in the facilities. For example, the bathtub faucet had apparently been leaking at some point. Instead of replacing it, the hotel haphazardly put about 2 inches of caulk all over the base that was just a mess. Sure, the water didn't leak anymore, but it looked horrible. This is just one example of shoddy maintenance. Staff was friendly and polite, breakfast buffet was so-so. The one feature this hotel has that others don't is an excellent location right at the busiest part of night bazaar. Price wasn't bad either but if nice facilities on your vacation is more important than location, look elsewhere.

I've stayed here 5 or 6 times over the last 12 or so years, and the below points have always been true in all of those stays: First the Positives: Good location, value for money, spacious and comfortable rooms with 'old style' furniture (the kind that is both stylish and comfortable, unlike what you find in many modern contemporary hotels that are designed for 'design' rather then comfort). Good and large breakfast spread for a hotel in this price range. Parking is very convenient (if you park on level L1 you can walk straight from the parking garage into the hotel lobby). The Big Negative: Over 80 % of all rooms in the hotel are connecting rooms with practically no soundproofing from the connecting room. If someone in the connecting room is talking, has the television on or makes any sound you will hear it. The hardwood floors are nice but add to this problem. You can even hear something as quiet as the person in the connecting room zip or unzip their luggage (I speak from experience on that point). Being occupancy is so very low during this pandemic, hotel staff should have enough sense to not put guests in adjacent connecting rooms. But no, it seems they are putting guests on just a few floors (convenient for housekeeping & elevator usage) and into adjacent connecting rooms.

Exceptional value at present with so few tourists due to COVID-19. However it didn’t stop the hotel from providing 5 star service. Our only complaint was the limited selection for breakfast. Catering more to Western diet rather than Asian.
