Tamarind Village is a unique and charming boutique property that nestles in the heart of historic Chiang Mai. Surrounded by ancient temples and quaint shopping streets, it takes its name from a magnificent 200 year old tamarind tree that shelters the hotel in a shady embrace.Tamarind Village is situated at the center of Chiang Mai’s old town. Many of Chiang Mai’s historic landmarks and temples such as Thapae Gate, the Three Kings Monument, Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang are located within a few minutes walk of the hotel. We stayed at this charming hotel recently and would thoroughly recommend it. It location is awesome, surrounded by the many, many temples in Chiang Mai. The staff are exceptional from the reception to the restaurant staff and cleaning staff. It’s a little oasis of calm and even though it’s centrally located, you can’t hear any noise from the traffic. The rooms aren’t huge but are beautifully furnished and have everything you could want. They arranged mosquito nets for us, which we were grateful for. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very attentive. We booked a driver called Tana for a half day trip to see some sites and they were fabulous and even took us the a temple in the forest which we hadn’t read about. Our driver was charming & fun and was bursting with loads of local information/ history. Thoroughly recommended Some evenings we had drinks sitting around the pool, which was so pretty and relaxing Tamarind Village was a great choice.

Could not recommend this place more! The staff is incredible - so kind and helpful, plus very genuine- feeling Thai experience. The location of the hotel is the best. Right next to Sunday market (highly recommend). Definitely want to say in Old Town area - everything is walkable. The property is so peaceful, and there was live music in the restaurant at least one night we were there. The only minor critique I have is the breakfast is not great, but it’s still good, just not as good as the place we stayed in Bangkok.

The staff were very attentive and generally spoke good English. The hotel is found inside the historical area of Chiang Mai and the entrance reached through a tunnel of bamboo, amazing. The rooms are fantastic, if a little small but the bathrooms a good size. We had a misunderstanding with a request for a mattress topper but other than that everything we asked for, such as an ironing board, was promptly provided. The setting is wonderful with loads of amenities nearby. Breakfast was excellent, either inside an air conditioned room or outside by the pool. We ate at the restaurant one night and whilst it was expensive, the food and service were excellent. We would highly recommend a stay here.

While in the centre of Chang Mai you wouldn’t have known it. Stepping off the street you enter an oasis of calm! Pool is small but suited the location. Staff wonderful and very attentive. Good selection in the restaurant but plenty of options close by via taxi, walk or tuktuk. Rooms were clean, comfortable with suitable furniture and well serviced. Room doors were perhaps not too secure but it felt like a home so this wasn’t really an issue. Great WiFi if that’s your thing! Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Beautiful hotel in a verdant and tranquil setting whilst also being very centrally located - I walked nearly everywhere during my visit. The traditional architecture is lovely, the rooms comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant serves tasty food, good wine and cocktails. The staff were all wonderful, unfailingly polite and helpful but a special mention has to go to Ms Dao, who went above and beyond to help when I experienced some issues with my onward journey from Chiang Mai, showing genuine kindness and.concern. All in all a top notch experience, thank you Tamarind village!

Lovely small boutique hotel in the old town, handy for getting around. The rooms were beautiful with nice extra touches. I had to buy the toiletries supplied to bring home as they were so good. Excellent helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. We had a couple of meals in the hotel which were delicious. The hotel does a complimentary walking tour which was interesting. The guide Nuut (not sure if that's the correct spelling) was full of interesting information about the three temples we visited. We also booked her for the Chiang Rai/Golden Triangle tour which we really enjoyed. Thanks for a great stay.

This was the most special of hotels we have ever been to. We travelled as a family and found the staff to be so friendly and attentive. We stayed for four nights and were well looked after. The rooms are beautiful and peaceful. The beds were so comfy that I am still missing them. I haven't slept so well before in a hotel bed! This hotel is well located in the centre of historic Chiang Mai with easy access to the temples, walking markets and other sights. Breakfast was delicious with fresh food served every morning overlooking the pool. The hotel offers crafts and activities for an hour in the afternoon which we took part in and learned about Thai culture. Our massive thank you to Thira and his team. We had the most wonderful of stays with you and the legendary Thai welcome was unforgettable! Kap Kun Ka

What a great find in the Chiang Mai. Situated in the heart of the Old Walls within east reach of all four gates. Staff were so kind and helpful. Candles burning in the room. Plenty of bottles water and milk in the fridge. Kettle and coffee/tea in the room. Lovely decorated room. Highly recommended.

We had a 4 night stay at the Tamarind and all I can find to say is positive things about this hotel. The location is fantastic in that it is very central, but so peaceful and quiet once you are in the hotel. The decor is lovely, the staff are wonderful and attentive, the room was lovely, peaceful and well maintained. This hotel was one of many very nice places we stayed at during our trip to Thailand, but will remain with me as my favourite as it had such character and the staff in particular were so caring. We will be returning in the near future, 100%.
