Just dont go ! The room are terrible, just look at the pictures. Hard bed, very dirty bathroom and floor, broken furniture, termite everywhere ! You really dont feel good in it ! The swimming pool is not clear water, i didnt swim in it. Staff relatively nice. Well located in old town but despite this, terrible value for money,...

Very nice place to stay in the hectic city of Chiang Mai. A beautiful quiet garden with a decent swimmingpool. Rooms are basic but with a good matrass and mosquito net. I even had a tree in my bathroom! Rooms start at 300 baht. I spent 7 nights here and would definitely come again!

Booked Smile House 1 on the recommendation of Lonely Planet - that's the last time we take their advice on accommodations. It is certainly the most basic of basic except for the fact that they have a pool (looked nice-ish). The rooms were VERY basic and the bed was rock hard. We had an air-con room which had a must...

Accommodations were extremely basic for the price (In Thailand) with rooms being a simple box style hostel w/o TV, A/C or much furniture etc. Room was clean but was extremely hard to keep cool with only 1 fan and poor ventilation through 1 window. Pool area was a great relief from the heat but some of the pool area chair...

I stayed here in 2014 and wrote a 4 star review of Smile House. Back in 2016 and even more impressed. Booked on Agoda, I paid $21/night, for a spacious, spotless, tidy air-con room. Still has great location in the Old City on a very quiet soi w. little traffic. Still has the fairly small but nice pool -- an...

I found Smile House via the internet, because this time in Chiang Mai I wanted budget accommodation with a pool. The pool is a good size for laps, cleaned regularly and a focal point at which to meet other travellers, either in it, or around it. Other travellers would look in longingly. It is a very chlled area. Smile House...

There is a nice swimming pool but the water it's super cold. It feels like this hostel needs more keeping and maintenance. Staff is nice and the rooms ok, although many stair for people carrying heavy backpacks. The location is perfect.

No mosquito nets on any windows, oh, there aren't any Windows btw. The pricy fan room upstairs caused a mosquito bloodbath on my account. Noisy neighborhood and noisy TV didn't help win any ratings either. The swimming pool is green of algae and no breakfast included. In general it feels this place is going downhill

The price won't let you down and what you get in return is a lovely room, authentic vibe and nice staff including the pets. They adjust their schedule to ours, which made things for us a lot easier. (Twin bedroom with shared bathroom, 350 B)

“Wi Fi in lounge and around pool; and in some of the rooms; rooms away from the pool area are quieter.”
JodyWitt, 23 Jan 2016 | Read review
“Bring a padlock and check the lights work before you pay. More importantly, make sure you see a room first to see if it's AC or fan.”
Willisson22, 8 Apr 2014 | Read review
“Read the reviews as they are pretty accurate. The place has some great danger issues that are ongoing which Senior Management and owner may blatantly ignore often? The pool attracts families with children that may be louder, dogs bark sometimes at various hours, nail is left sticking out of deck for many days, electrical wires are left live so you may get shocked. This place was scary for me and I am most resilient and do thrive in chaos to a point where it becomes most aggravating and ridiculous.”
Tacpatriot, 29 Dec 2013 | Read review
“Don't take room 23 or 24 beside the wading pool deck. Also be sure to look at every room carefully before deciding if you want to stay here.”
JStaley, 15 May 2013 | Read review
“The air-conditioned room with private bathroom (#18) for 500 baht is very poky and bathrooms not great (has a tree in the middle), if you can afford it opt or the 700 baht air con or a fan or shared bathroom option.”
