Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Friendly and efficient staff who goes the extra mile for guests. The pool area is beautiful, it felt like an oasis coming from the street (especially when you are hot and tired from a tour). The room was perfect with even a fruit welcoming basket. My daughter was treated to a surprise birthday cake after breakfast and a birthday card in the room. The hotel is within walking distance of a lot of tourist attractions. I wish I booked for a longer stay. I will definitely return.

Great things first: the staff! The staff was overall super friendly. The entire breakfast team was amazing, very customer focused and on top of everything. The breakfast selection was very good and it changed quite a bit every day, so even after 11 days we weren't bored; to the opposite it was equally delicious on the last day, as it was on the first day.  Khun Arnuchit was another highlight. He got an group-internal nickname 'Khun Smilie' and we mean that with a lot of respect. He is one of the friendliest person you can meet and only b/c of him we ended up every single night at the small bar in the garden, enjoying our drinks, his mixing skills and his friendly personality. The front desk had one outstanding person, Khun Ming (Ms. Sipharachat) She was always very helpful and accommodating to our various travel inquiries. It was a true pleasure interacting with her. Room service was great as well, as the room was well looked after every single day. The location is perfect just after entering the old town. Super convenient and close to everything, from temples, street markets to many attractions, restaurants and shops and you get quickly out of the city for your various day trips. The downside: the room category. Here I blame booking dot com as much as the hotel. We booked the 2nd highest category: Two Deluxe Suites for 11 nights each - so a total of 22 paid nights !!! But it wasn't a suite at all. It was a 'Deluxe' room with an added bathroom displaying a tub... Great IG picture but that's it. No real daylight for 11 days, behind the window blinds you face a corrugated sheet roof and a wall. So you have neither a view nor a balcony. The rest is simply a basic room with no shelves or storage space. I mean zero storage space. Yoy have to live out of the suitcase for 11 days or you use the small couch as your shelve (what we did) to ensure your clothes stay dry and don't start smelling in this humidity. This needs to be explained or stated in the room description. The way it is on booking com is very misleading or to be frank its simply wrong as it's not a Suite at all. When you pay 2 x 11 nights for a Deluxe Suite you'd expect a very nice room. I will consider starting again to book future  extended stays directly with the hotels, to ensure a preferential treatment as long staying guests. Would we recommend the Askara Heritage: Yes for all the great reasons, mentioned above, but only if for a shorter stay and you can skip the Deluxe Suite. Would we go back when back in Chiang Mai? Probably but I would deal directly with the hotel to make sure to get an enjoyable room with a view and daylight when staying for almost 2 weeks. Hotel, location 5 out of 5 * Staff 6 out of 5* Room 2.5 out of 5*

I’d definitely stay here again. It’s a relatively new (4 or 5 years old) hotel in a great location in the Old City near Tha Phae Gate. Good size rooms, hot spacious shower in a spacious bathroom, great bed, staff who take the trouble to know the guest’s names. The included breakfast buffet is more than adequate to set you up for the day, it’s mainly simple Thai food that varies from day to day.

One night was not enough to experience the hotel as we would have liked but it was worth every penny! We arrived and were welcome by two friendly girls at the reception. They spoke English very well and one girl walked us to the room to explain everything. I was completely in love with the styling of the hotel, pool area and room itself. It looks like someone really did their best to pay attention to the small details. Such a cozy and luxurious room. A very nice surprise was the balcony, bathroom with tub and spacious shower (with sitting area!). The two sinks in the hall were also lovely! The best thing was the flatscreen tv with Netflix already installed!!! We had to leave early in the morning so at 7 am we had breakfast in the beautiful restaurant, there was a nice variety of cold and hot items. The only downside was that the bar and restaurant already closed at 22:30, however roomservice was still possible I believe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend to stay here as the location is super convenient. Make sure to book a spa at Let’s Relax or Fah Lanna Spa Old Town.

I stayed here with two friends in April 2022 and had the best time. The place was beautiful, it felt so nice and luxurious, and the pool was relaxing and refreshing. The location was also great - our first night there, we walked out to find dinner and there was an outdoor market going on right on the street in front of the hotel. The hotel was also close to many beautiful temples and places to eat. The room was comfortable and provided water bottles every day and the food and drinks at the hotel restaurant were sooo good. The service was good and the staff were all friendly as well. They also offer laundry service which was great for us since we were halfway through our trip and needed a refresh. I would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I spent our anniversary at this hotel. We brought our two kids with us and the staff was able to make sure that they were in the next room to us. Kids enjoyed the breakfast buffet and pool too. Lastly, the location is great! It's just a walk away from Tha Pae Gate. Overall, it was a great stay and we will surely be back.
