Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I'm vaccinated 3 times and showed certifications, completed Sandbox but they say they can refuse people if they don't provide certification. This is not fair so I asked to pay at check out as I guaranteed payment with my debit card on Booking.com, but the staff said I have to pay in advance regardless. Booking.com took my side but they even refused to find a solution with them. They don't respect booking.com policy and do whatever they like. The website should ban this hotel. Because I discussed about this the manager let me wait for 2h, while staff was laughing at me and getting eaten by huge mosquitos, invited me to his office and refused me without letting me speak, shouted at me for about 10min non stop while I kept my cool. Probably couldn't do it in the hotel hall, that's why he wanted to speak in his office instead with doors closed. I felt unsafe that he could attack me without having anybody as witness. So I've been without options with no notice and wasted 1 day of my holidays. Also people don't wear mask there and it's SHA?? Probably because of corruption. They can't even speak English. Horrible experience and I was regular customer for 4 years but now they changed the whole staff. I regret big time that I gave them my money every year. They should refund me for the inconvenience. They deserve to close down! Scammers left me alone in Thailand with no accommodation! Criminals and very racist! Worst hotel experience ever. Luckily I found a much better hotel with only 5 euros extra in a better position without booking in advance. For security reasons I don't write the name of this hotel but trust me they do not deserve 1cent. Notice also the weird automated answer they gave to this review by thanking me for the good feedback and wishing to see me again. Even the automated message has grammar mistakes 😂😂😂 creeps

Sakulchai Place is on a small quiet street but walking distance to Maya Mall and nimmanhaemin road. The room was clean, with 2 bottles of complimentary water restocked daily, mini fridge, kettle. Our room also had a table for dining, and good dresser space for storage. There is an elevator which made it easy to carry bags to our rooms. The kitchen appeared to be open all meals of the day, and the food was good and service was always very friendly! Breakfast entailed choosing one main + the rest of the appetizers and beverages were buffet style. The pool is quite cold but the pool area has a great environment for lounging and relaxing. The gym is very basic so we opted to use the nearby Gold Hillside gym about a 5min walk away. There is a key deposit which was returned to us without any issues upon check out. The front desk also allowed us to store our bags with them for a few hours after check out while we took a walk around. Great value for a clean comfortable stay in a location that has easy access to the area - would stay again.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. We booked several rooms for a planned family reunion. A fifty percent deposit was required and paid. My mother-in-law, for whom the reunion chiefly was to honor, suddenly passed away which caused a cancellation of the planned event. We informed the management who in turn informed the hotel's owners who agreed to refund 70% of the deposit due to credit card fees if we provided proof of her passing. We accepted this and provided the requested documentation. When we met with the manager the following day, she informed us that the owners had changed their minds and would only refund 50 percent. Buyer beware!

Stayed here for 4 nights and hotel was clean with friendly staff. Good value for money and rooms were bright and cleaned well every day. The pool area is good but you may struggle to get a sun bed when busy. WiFi is not great throughout the hotel and there is mosquitos everywhere due to the open nature of it. A short walk from local amenities. Huge construction site next door and you cannot buy any alcohol in the hotel at all. Breakfast is ok but nothing to shout about.

Hotel itself was average. Service wasn’t great. We booked a non smoking room online (which we confirmed) and were told upon arrival at the desk that we did not, however they would do us a “favor” and upgrade us, even though it was what we booked in the first place. They also conveniently forgot to return our deposit at the end of our stay. We tried to contact them after about it, however did not receive any response. The pool was nice.

This is a nice hotel but there isn’t anything that particularly stands out or sets it apart. I’d say it’s pretty average, nice lobby and standard rooms, though fairly dusty - we weren’t sure whether the room we were in just hadn’t be used in a long time as it didn’t seem very busy. Because of this I think it did lack atmosphere generally, maybe if we had come at another time of year we’d be saying different. The pool turned brown during our stay too, but they were fixing that as we left, but unfortunately it meant we couldn’t use the pool. Breakfast is a good price and decent selection. Staff are as helpful as they can be, but it can be difficult to communicate in English sometimes. Finally, if you’re looking to stay in Chiang Mai I would recommend finding a hotel closer to the night bazaar and the main area as we had to get taxis into the centre.

Sakulchai hotel The staff was very friendly and accommodating; they helped us book two excursions we really enjoyed! They spoke English well, and were able to help us with our scooter rental. The gentleman working in the restaurant was very sweet, and the service was fantastic! We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends

Hotel is good and rooms are very nice, price and location are ok. Unfortunately nobody can speak decent english there and didn't seem trained or professional. Had to ask to 3 different people at the restaurant if they serve mango and sticky rice and the answer was "Go to the shop!", well nobody around there serves that food. Asked to call a taxi and they refused, then offered me a very expensive one with different prices. I doubt the lady at the reception even understood the query.

This hotel is set down a quiet side street away from the sometimes mad bustle of Chiang Mai. Past large private houses and big trees close by is a small massage place and a laundry. On the main street there are four or five fairly good restaurants including a hole in the wall Japanese noodle restaurant which also does other standard dishes pretty well [across the road up to the right in a tiny mall]. The hotel itself is five stories: stay in the top floor in a superior room with breakfast. It is very clean and well run. Breakfast is OK if you choose wisely. I brought my own cheese for the omlettes. Lots of fresh salads and so on. The breakfast 'meats'' are a bit of a worry. No actual pork products. No alcohol is allowed in public areas. That is the give away- the owners are muslim. No problem with alcohol in the rooms though. I would definitely stay here again. Really good value, quiet and comfortable with a nice pool [a bit chilly in winter!]

Paid just over 900 baht a night. Was not impressed, Chiang Mai has plenty of cheaper or equally priced places to stay which are better. My room smelt faintly of pee. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Hotel does not sell beer (muslim) so you can’t relax by the pool with a drink. Immediate vicinity not great. Overall, a disappointment.
