On arrival back in Bangkok at 05:30 from Koh Tao, we thought we would stay local to the Kaosan Road area. Amarin Inn had good reviews so we made our booking and after breakfast we headed there only to find out that check in is not until 2pm... We left our bags at reception and then headed to the train...

Good price (790) for the middle of kao san road. Fairly spacious, loads of storage room and surfaces. Super tiny bathroom. Very clean room not noisey. Only downside is that the curtains let through all light, so not a good place if you want to party all night and sleep all day. The staff was so friendly, even at 3...

This is a basic hotel. Good location but down an alley so tricky for taxi to find. Room basic but has wifi. Needs updating but we were happy here. Stayed twice. The best bit is the staff. Very friendly. Has a safe in the lobby for your valuables and a very basic breakfast (toast).

We booked one night in a 3 person private and it worked great. Beds are a little hard and the bathrooms small but this is a great budget option. Free coffee and tea and lobby is open 24 hours. Towels and soap provided and they even have a desktop computer to use. Located deep in an alleyway though, so can...

We had a great stay at Amarin Inn - it was in a great location, had friendly staff and amazingly cold air con. We did struggle to find the hotel in the dark, it's down an alleyway that you would never expect a hotel to be down, and the 'veggie veggie' shop that we were looking out for was a...

This is a simple place. if you don't like simple then don't stay here. We like simple and we like cheap so we had a great time at Amarin Inn. It is around the corner from the two main tourists streets in Bangkok. It took us less than 10 to walk to Khaosan Road from here. There are also lots...

Kai was our angel! She was very helpful in showing us how to get around Bangkok, knew all the bus numbers and best sights to see. After we checked out, we were catching a night train to Chiang Mai. She let us store our bags at the hotel and even let us use the showers before we left, and gave...

Stayed here for 7 days. Always have fresh towels. Staff were very helpful and even provided us with maps and tips (bus and boat taxi for cheaper travel). Rooms are spacious, toilet were clean and there was free breakfast!

For the price, it cannot be faulted. Clean comfy bed, towels, shower that works, five minutes or so walk to the thronging nightlife of Khan San Road. Grand Palce, Wat Phro and many other beautiful temples within twenty minutes walk. The local tourist map that the staff will give you is helpful, but distances are quite deceptive, so try and...

We stayed for three nights in a twin room, paying 750B per night. They insist on payment in advance, and a 500B deposit for the key. The location is perfect, as it’s close to Khao San without being too close. One of the two ladies on the reception desk is lovely, very friendly and helpful; the other one is a...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
