We've stayed in this charming and quaint small hotel during our visit in Bangkok. We all loved the Thai ambiance and the vintage style interior. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, even packed us a picnic because we didn't have time for breakfast one morning. The location was great for sightseeing. When we left we forgot a wallet in...

We stayed at Baan Chantra for four nights. It was charming with great ambiance and extremely helpful staff, especially the owner. We were guided to several good restaurants, things to experience and the best mango with sticky rice. The breakfast was plentiful and wonderful. I appreciated trying both western style meals as well as Thai breakfast. The coffee was excellent!...

This small boutique hotel had a great ambience of an old Bangkok home. The staff were wonderful nothing was too much trouble and helpful with local advice of where to go and eat. The breakfast was delicious especially the thai. The location was walking distance to Khao San Road, the river ferries and many other tourist sites. At night there...

I originally booked the twin room on the ground floor but upgraded. You don't get much of the charm in the twin room so book the superior room. The rooms on the upper floor get the pretty wooden flooring and sweet little communal balconies with plants hanging everywhere. I only stayed for 2 nights, location is great. I have been...

We stayed at Baan Chantra for 4 nights. Although we frequent this part of Bangkok, this was the first stay at this B&B. We had originally booked a twin room which were small & basic, not too dissimilar from a small hotel room however, when we asked to change rooms to a bigger more quiet room, the manager was more...

In this most charming small b&b, one is welcomed as a relative. The owner, the lovely and peppy Kulthida, obviously delights in greeting guests in her ancestral home where the wood is polished to a shine and where you can glimpse at the true lifestyle of the locals. We particularly liked the nooks and crannies on the upper floor, everything...

We just got back from a trip to Thailand and stayed in Baan Chantra, Kulthida and her staff went to every length to ensure that our stay was a good one. They were incredibly friendly and helpful every moment that we were there. If there was any way they could help, they did. Location is good. Very close to the...

We were absolutely delighted with the accomodation and location of Baan Chantra. Centrally located near to the main tourist attractions and the very pleasant Banglumphu area which has a nice selection of bars and restaurants. The family owned period building is unexpectedly charming and nestled quietly in this bustling city. The owner and staff are very warm and are a...

Although we stayed only one night in Bangkok, it was our first night in Thailand (or Asia for that matter) and we are so glad we stayed at Kuthida's place. The staff including the day and night desk clerk and cleaning woman were over-the-top friendly, helpful, and accommodating. If they could not answer a question, Kuthida was immediately on the...

I've never felt hospitality quite like it anywhere else. We were made to feel so welcome from the minute we arrived! Beautiful little house, in a great area which is buzzing 24-7, however once you are inside it is a peaceful retreat from the city. Great breakfast, great room. Worth the money for sure. When we had to depart for...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
