This stay was one of our favorites throughout our entire trip. We booked it last minute , as we arrived into Bangkok at about 1am. We were greeted with open arms and there was no issue with booking so late. The owner and her employees were more than helpful and spoke English very well. She also suggested our stay in...

Stayed here because of the reviews and was not disappointed. The staff was amazing, going above and beyond the call of duty. The owner greeted us with a welcoming smile even though we booked it last minute and arrived in the middle of the night. 100% recommend this place. Accommodations were clean, included breakfast was delicious and the owner made...

I guess this is one of the problems with Trip Advisor - most reviews tend to be positive, which can lead to expectations greater than reality. From our reading of reviews we were expecting a charming, comfortable and warm experience. We didn't get this. I really don't want to come across as a whinger (read my other reviews if you...

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The location is handy to the river and transport to all the main sites and shopping. The rooms are air conditioned and very clean. A wonderful place to stay.

Every time we come to Bangkok we like to stay at the Baan Chantra. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. The staff are so friendly, helpful and attentive. They helped us to make various travel arrangements while we there and made recommendations too. The location is fantastic. Far enough away from Kao San Road but close enough to the hustle...

I lived in Bangkok 50 years ago as a high school exchange student. I miss that Bangkok but staying at Baan Chantra is as close to that experience as one could get! Being there is perfect for being able to safely explore a neighborhood, eat Thai food, and yet stay in comfort and luxuriate! Obviously I'm not a young backpacker!...

We loved staying at the Baan Chantra for many reasons: our hosts were lovely and very helpful, the location was perfect, walking distance to many tourist sites (Grand Palace, etc.), close to the river, lovely rooms and hotel ambiance, good breakfast, and surrounded by great restaurants. We would definitely stay here again. Restaurants to check out nearby: Steve's (Thai and...

Our stay here was very comfortable. The staff are the friendliest we've met in Bangkok. They can't do enough for you. Breakfast is whatever you request ( included in the price) - we had the local fruits. We saw that some guests had a typical Thai breakfast. Yet if you wanted a typical English breakfast it was cooked with perfection....

I really felt like I was in the thick of Bangkok excitement here with the famous backpacker road just a short 5 minute walk away. My taxi driver had trouble finding the Baan Chantra but that is because generally Thais don't have good English and the alphabet is completely different. It really helps if you can show your cab driver...

Have just stayed here 4 nights from 20th to 24th may!! This was the 2nd time I've stayed at this friendly bed and breakfast. This time with a close friend and we stayed in a twin room downstairs. Once again very apt for what we needed nothing too fancy but close to all sights. What makes this special is the...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
