This hotel is right in the heart of Chinatown. It is decorated and furnished in a traditional manner. There is a large lobby area on each level where you can read or relax. There are a variety so seafood restaurants just outside the front door and it is a 5 minute walk to the underground. What really makes this hotel...

One of the memories I will never forget about Thailand is the exotic smell of the smokes inside every facility and I really loved it a lot as it makes you feel a real part of the city and you live and smell the city. After a beatiful holiday in Koh Samui & Krabi , Bangkok was our last stop...

Awesome, really awesome, this is what this boutique is. It's a kind of Chinese style in Chinatown. Checking in was so much faster and more convenient than 5 star Hotels. The staff ( Khun Tui ) was very nice and helpful. The room 206 was tastefully decorated. One could easily stay in and relax all day. One out standing was...

We had booked a room of the Mei Hua category online from Germany. When we arrived staff was very friendly and attendive, check-in was very quick (5 minutes only). We received a welcome drink and a cold towel. We were a little uneasy at first walking into a hotel of this kind with backpacks, but there was no problem at...

We stayed here for two nights when we first arrived in Bangkok on our honeymoon. It was a beautiful hotel, the rooms were immaculate! When the sweet little lady on reception found out it was our honeymoon she delivered flowers, fruit and wine to our room it was such a lovely gesture. The hotel has a great lobby bar that's...

As part of our only few pre-booked choices of Thailand before we left home, this hotel was a welcome sight after a 12 hour flight. The decor is one of the best, creative and stylish sights I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The roll top bath, displayed on its raised platform in the middle of the room...

This was recommended from a colleague who had previously stayed here. It was a great recommendation and I would do the same to anyone going to Bangkok. Staff were great fun and helpful (especially with tuk-tuk!) and the rooms were lovely too - we stayed in a double bedroom on the first floor.

To be fair, the only thing keeping me from leaving at least an average review is the fact that we scheduled to be picked up form the airport by the Hotel, which IS a service they offer. Not only did no one show up, but they didn't even seem to care when we got there at 2am, after paying for...

The service staff of the hotel are attentive to your needs and details. Service was prompt and excellence from manager, counter staff and the rest of the service staff. The free wifi in the entire place makes your connectivity to the world uninterrupted. The staff toured me around the various rooms that are available in their hotel and each one...

My stay at the Shanghai Mansion as excellent and to top it off I had an adventurous tour of local temples with Mr. S on my last day. Mr. S was mine for the day and took me to the places I was interested in seeing. This is a complementary service and is not for the faint-of-heart, but rather for...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
