I stayed in Shanghai Mansion for two nights in November. It is probably my favourite hotel that I have stayed in this holiday. It is perfectly located at the top of Yaowarat road, Chinatown, the hotel is a short walk away from the food markets and street food that is on the doorstep. Alternatively, dine in the restaurant on the...

An oasis of calm in this downtown area of Chinatown. Call into the bar and listen to some good music and enjoy the atmosphere before you go off into the frenetic world of Chinatown beyond. A little expensive by local standards but you will enjoy the complete contrast with the surrounding area.

What a place just at the edge of chinatown towards the main railway station. Completely quiet rooms, stylisch, charming. The interior really cute but nevertheless useful arranged. The staff just perfect, helpful, friendly and competent. We had a great deal, so for us a perfect price value. Would absolutely recommend this Hotel and book it myself again.

Clean, quirky and friendly...this hotel is good value for money. Downside - woken up early due to wedding ceremony held in central lobby. These are held frequently. Breakfast is standard hotel food and expensive compared with surrounding area.

And we made it a very comfortable afternoon and morning before our flight by staying atShanghai Mansions. This is right in bustling Chinatown and very near local attractions and an oasis of calm. Comfortable well appointed rooms and great food and drink. There was complimentary dinner or spa, breakfast, Tuk Tuk and heritage tour available. The staff were helpful and...

Booked direct by telephone. Walking in off busy Yaowarat Road the aircon and décor were very refreshing. Standard room with double bed is spacious but not large. Bar fridge includes two water, two soft drinks ,one can beer, small chips and a chocolate bar. All are free. Linin is top quality and fresh. Shower is rain style with great hot...

We visited Shanghai Mansion as our first stop on our Thailand holiday and it was our base for the 2 nights we stayed in Bangkok. The location was fab, right in the heart of China Town. China Town itself was completely mental but brilliant, with the best street food you could wish for. We spent about £30 each night feeding...

This place is really great if you are looking for a modern and clean hotel right in the middle of Chinatown. Just outside there are plenty of AMAZING street food. We also went for a Thai massage and it is the best massage I've ever had. Super professional staff who really know the Thai massage style. We didn't have a...

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night in late October. The staff are very welcoming, nice decor in the main lobby and very clean. The room is a bit quirky but in keeping with the Chinatown feel (although the fake birds in a cage in the bathroom was rather strange). The minibar in the room was complementary which...

We stayed in the Shangai Mansion Hotel for 2 nights, the standard room is really amazing, really confortable and great decoration. The hotel is really well located (middle of China Town), clean and relaxing. We will come back here in our next visit to Bangkok.

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
