Hotel was old fashioned but clean. Every day housekeeping and housekeeper was nice and polite. Front desk staff speaked very poor english and they were not especially helpful. No free wifi. Located near Lumphini MRT station. Hotel food was quite expensive and very spicy. Overall 3/5 star.

This hotel is okay, but if you want to have little bit comfort so it is not the right place. The rooms looks very poor. And if you get a room at the back side so you will see the wall of the next house in a distance of 2 metres. The food of the restaurant is good and the...

I have stayed in expensive hotels in Bangkok, but i always return to the Malaysia hotel , because it has a real charm of it own, where you see real thai people, when you return the receptionist remembers you even if you have not been there for years, they have a restaurant which is cheap, you see the local police...

First stayed in this hotel in August 2010 upon recommendation by a friend who travelled to Bangkok with his partner. I love their restaurant and the local food they serve. Although it is a haven for LGBT travellers, I could say that it has added to the charm of this place. Internet is not free though - and I think...

I booked this online, the hotel is located near the Lumpini MRT. The hotel is clean and has a swimming pool. The room I was offered was very large with two big beds. The AC was effective and overall cleanliness was good. The hotel has a restaurant which offers decent food but I guess it is a bit overpriced. The...

I really don't mind the worn look of the place, since it's clean and good service. The price for a double room here is equal to two dorm room beds (without windows or a desk) on the main tourist street, so I've stayed here multiple times! Love having my own space. Staff is friendly enough, and I felt safe as...

Used to use this hotel when working in Bangkok in the eighties as it was cheap, clean and conveniently located, if a little on the seedy side. Stopped by recently when in Bangkok for 1 night, as a trip down memory lane - and was amazed to find that it hasn't changed a bit! It's still there, still the same...

I see previous reviews using the words dated, and faded, and I agree, but what is wrong with something reminding us of the past even if a little worn. The Malaysia continues to be my favourite hotel despite lack of upgrading and renovation. The words vintage and retro come more to mind with this grand old lady of Bangkok. Where can you get...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
