After staying in Khao San (and getting pretty bored of it) we chose to stay at Malaysia as something different. The location is good as it's near all the shopping malls and a relatively upmarket area of Bangkok. The hotel isn't that cheap, but not much is in Bangkok. Most rooms still smelt of smoke, even if they were now...

The hotel is very simple, the rooms are basic. But it's good value for small money. Rooms are clean, staff is very helpful. Good restaurants, massage studios just next door. 15 min walk to Silom road with all the nightlife. They have a pool and you can even meet friendly other budget travellers there.

Basic and looking a bit tired but all you need. Staff are very friendly and swimming pool is clean. After you get used to the peculiar smell its ok, its not gone win awards but will do for the budget traveler. All in all value for money, you get what you pay for.

I have just spent 6 days at the Malaysia hotel and would find it difficult to fault. The rooms are spotless, service is excellent and the restaurant offers first class food at a very reasonable rate. My only criticism would be the pillows are very hard and reminded me of bags of cement. However, if you want a convenient clean...

Be Aware if booking a room here and you are checking in at night even if you have paid ahead they may not have a room for you!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice cheap rooms remember you get what you pay for. I have had no problems with the hotel but others have. I have seen people come in late at night and they...

After leaving a couple of bags for safe keeping at the hotel for a week, while we travelled south, we returned to find things missing from our bags. The left luggage is a paid for service at the hotel and they say that only staff have access to to storage area... Maybe it's only one staff member, but it leaves...

The Malaysia Hotel is located about a 7 minute walk from Lumpini Metro Station (MRT) and is off Rama IV Road. There are a number of cheap places to eat in this area and some small late-night supermarkets, as well as banks and currency exchange bureaux. The hotel itself is on a side street, set back slightly in a small...

I have stayed in the Malaysia hotel for almost two months. This is a very good value place. Centrally located. Near the underground MRT system. Just 1 euro by taxi - or motorbike - to city center. Lots of cheap eateries and bars nearby. And a huge plus for me - a short walk to the really well maintained large...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
