Stayed one night, loved the modern style in an old warehouse(?) type building, down an alley way with great views across the river. This may not be everyone's taste but I thought it was fun. Proximity to Wat Po was great, short walk to the ferry transport on the river. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel which is just across the road from Wat Pho. The room was well appointed with a soft futon bed on a raised platform. The bathroom is in a glass cubicle in the bedroom, which might be a bit strange if sharing with someone other than family. However, there is a curtain that... More

I would recommend this place, however there are definitely a few things they need to work on. Staff are really friendly, welcoming and helpful - best part of staying here and best service we had in Thailand. The problems lie with the building itself. There is an overwhelming scent of raw sewage in the entry and stairwell. We thought it... More

Located in an alleyway of a "distribution" center in the heart of Bangkok, this hotel is a hidden gem. Our cab driver had difficulty finding it because it's literally in an alley. When they put the crate on the floor as a "step" we started wondering if we had gotten bamboozled into spending good money on a scary place. Boy... More

Very happy with hotel. Fantastic location in old town with main sites only a few Minutes walk. Lovely views on either side of hotel. Roof top bar lovely for evening drink/tapas and watch the boats on river. Food fantastic. Good menu choice and well cooked and presented. This little boutique hotel is hidden behind the Palace and overlooks the river. What a lovely little oasis from the chaos outside! Great rooms overlooking the river with floor to ceiling glass and ice little roof top bar to view the city from.

If you're visiting Bangkok, most people have three choices in deciding where to stay. There are the downtown hotels, the Khao San Road area (if you want that Khao San scene), and along the river in the older parts of the city. Along the river definitely has a ton of interesting things to see and do, and if you choose... More

The rooftop bar and restaurant are delightful. We found Sala by accident, but were so happy with the food, service, and amazing views of the city in all directions. This is a must stop, and we really enjoyed daylight turning into early evening with all the beautiful sites and lights.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
