I'm sure it's good for tourists with plenty of money or families, but the rooms felt extremely dated. The reception desk people are also fairly rude and ask for a lot of unnecessary paperwork that I was not asked for anywhere else while staying in Thailand. Shower temperature control is either hell's fires hot or cold. The breakfast buffet is...

We visited this hotel for a few days whilst staying in Bangkok, the staff were friendly and helpful and the location was also really good. The issue we had was they currently are undergoing repairs so the noise from 9am-5pm was horrific. Also by the pool the noise was an issue, there weren't enough sun loungers and we had to...

The Royal Hotel is hotel with history and located close the main sightseeings of Bangkok: the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho. Also close to Khao San road, the touristic road of Bangkok with many bars, shops and travel agencies. The rooms of the hotel are good and clean and also the service is good.

Don't let the reviews mislead you. This Hotel is a disaster. While it was no doubt great at one point, that time was a good 30 years ago. The room was grungy and run down. Hot water lacked a regulator and would randomly spike scalding you, we had a nice padio with a view over the square. Unfortunately the door...

Not impressed. Despite its great location between The Grand Palace and Khaosan Road, it's not quite what we had been led to believe. Very poorly maintained, although some noisy maintenance work currently taking place......needs lots of TLC.....including painting, modernising and sand blasting; stale smell throughout the hotel and facilities within each room somewhat lacking- no bed side lamps, patio with...

We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and always found it great, the position is unbeatable and the staff always friendly and happy. Sadly it has new owners and it is no longer a nice place to stay. The reception staff were hostile and very rude on checkin, it seemed they were doing us a favour...

Reception - Very very abrupt and rude. They don't have the Thai hospitality and made me feel very awkward when waiting. We didn't even get a hello, it was just a look at us until we said we had a reservation. No information was given to us about anything at all. Had to ring up once in our room about...

Okay hotel. Close to royal palace and surrounding famous temples. Spacious older hotel with a ambient look, spiral staircase. Chinese tourist hotel. Very good breakfast. Neighborhood on the immediate outside is a little shady. Room clean.

Good clean rooms and with balconies... Nice. Service was ok since communication was difficult. Thai hospitality was not witnessed...perhaps the hot weather. Wifi connectivity poor. Hotel could use its old world charm to attract more tourists

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
