Neither the first nor the last stay at this simple but welcoming hotel in town. The good think I like is that it is a small hotel owned by locals. Although the rooms might indicate the need of some refurbishments, they are clean and well kept. And the staff is always extremely helpful and friendly, although sometimes with language problems,...

This was my first time n Bangkok alone speaking very little Thai. The staff was great, The hotel was clean, and safe. I had a minor problem which staff took the time to assist me, going above and beyond. I would recommend this hotel highly and plan to make this my regular hotel when I'm in Bangkok. Thank you LA...

The staff here were so kind and helpful. Tu speaks beautiful English and knows everything there is to know - and just so friendly and helpful - ideal when you arrive in a big bustling city like Bangkok! Room was just what we needed, clean and spacious, and the location is ideal for getting about the city. Breakfast was delicious...

This was not really my usual kind of place to stay in, but as a company I was working for hooked me up with a reservation for a few months, I stayed here. Good for longer term stays definitely, but wouldn't recommend for travelers wanting to meet people staying for a few nights. The only notable complaint I had was...

Arrived at hotel at 2.30am in the morning - no reception staff to check me in and all lights were off etc. Wondered into the back room and found two men sleeping there. Tried to wake them up to check me in but they were clearly wasted and kept going back to sleep when I woke them up. Was very...

Booked last minute for nye and not bad value for money. Not much in the area. Room was nicely decorated and very clean. Manager and staff were excellent and really helpful. Downside - room was excruciatingly hot and shower was so difficult to use. Overall our stay was unpleasant due to the heat and shower issue.

Really happy with my short stay here, the staff are friendly and the lady running it very helpful with directions and advice on things to do. Room very clean and had everything needed including a fridge. Breakfast was fine, basic (eggs and fruit) and same as other budget stay places. Location is quite far from koh San road but taxis...

Nice neat and clean hotel only a few minutes by foot from the Patpong area with its bazars and beer halls. Conveniently located on Suriwongse Road. Always stay here for overnight stops whilst in Bangkok. Shopping all within walking distance. Friendly and very helpful staff who organize taxi or sightseeing or what you might need. Very reasonably priced.

The hotel is conveniently located if you want to visit the sites around Silom Road. The next MRT station is still within walking distance but it does take a while to get there. The rooms are small with spacious but slightly grubby bathrooms. The elevator does cause some noise in the rooms. Breakfast was included in the price and was...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Résidence is an intimate, yet hip boutique hotel in the heart of Bangkok. Located on Suriwongse Road next to Silom Road, it enjoys easy access to all the major shopping areas and is only minutes away from the Chao Phya River which is the best shortcut to all the famous temples via river taxis. Patpong Road, the notorious entertainment area which converts into a shopping bazaar from 1700 until 0200 is only a few blocks away. Major shopping centers as well as souvenir shops at the Silom Village are also within walking distance.Well known for its beautifully decorated rooms and delicious, authentic Thai food, La Résidence is a rare find in a city full of cliched decor and banal rooms. Each of our twenty six luxurious rooms and suites are equipped with all the amenities and charmingly furnished with lots of little personal touches and each with it's own unique theme.Best of all, rates are very reasonable coupled with impeccable service. Most of the guests are regulars who could afford 5-star hotels, but wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. ... more   less
