Our 1 night stay at the Arom d Hostel was a comfortable and peaceful one despite being directly across the road from the Wat Pho! We stayed in the double room and this hostel would easily have passed as a very reasonable standard hotel. We weren't in the hostel particularly often, admittedly, but when we were we found it convenient,...

I don't like writing reviews but I just had to for this hostel. While the rooms are interestingly laid out (I stayed in the olive room and those beds were positioned quite funny). I can say, as a person who is currently traveling the world and visiting 9 different countries, that this hostel was by far the best. The staff...

Nice little place in the perfect location for visiting Wat Pho (the entrance is about a 30 second walk). The rooms were clean and had AC. The stairs are steep with no lift so I'd advise anyone with walking disabilities to look elsewhere. We dealt with 3 staff members, all Thai. The young man and woman who work there are...

We were staying down the street and wanted a quick bite between lunch and inner later. The restaurant is nice, and the staff was friendly. Food is ok, nothing too fancy, but it does the job. The fruit smoothies were nice.

To begin with. This is not the cheapest restaurant you can eat. However the stir fried shi take with sweet chilly and black pepper is delicious. It's a great vegetarian dish. So therefore not five stars but at least four. Pizzas at this place are also a great taste. At least so my kids told me.

Delicious Food in an unassuming setting. We ordered the green curry with shrimp, red curry with chicken, green mango salad and pad thai. A lot of food - and beer - for under $40 dollars. We cleaned our plates. We were brought here by our guide after touring the royal palace and weren't sure what to expect. the food was...

Overall our stay here was nice. The room was quaint with a good AC and nice bathroom BUT there was no safety deposit box and the shower temperature is luke warm. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels and the bed made - the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The location is great...

Even though the view may have been blocked by the trees, it was still a nice touch. Service was nice. The room was better. Saying that the room is nice, consider the price that you are paying and the ambience you receive. The location is great, a 5 minute ride by tuktuk to kaosan road. Even though they say the...

We are friends staying in twin bed room. The location of the hotel is great. We arrived at the hostel quite late due to our flight was delayed. On the arrival we found two COCKROACHES in the bathroom and on the bed (actually on the PILLOW), so we just chased them out the window. The staff wasn't so friendly, maybe...

Best stay in old Bangkok, right next to the Royal Palace and main pagodas. Highly recommended, very clean and quiet. Easy access to public transport. Food available. Staff is friendly. Stayed in Dorm which was pretty cool with nice views from window.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Arom d Hostel is located in the heart of Rattanakosin Island, the historic center of Bangkok. Our guests will enjoy the relaxation and liveliness of Ta Tien neighborhood, the main Chinese market and shipping port on the bank of Chao Phraya River since the rise of Rattanakosin in the 18th century. Among the major tourist and cultural sights; Wat Po, the Temple of Reclining Buddha, is right on the opposite side of the road; the Grand Palace, Sanam Luang and the Flower Market are just minutes away on foot; while Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is only 5 minutes across the Chao Phraya River by ferry boats. In the cultural preserved building erecting here for a century, all the guest rooms of Arom d Hostel are well renovated to retain the reminiscence of the colonial period along with the modern comfort to enrich the living experience of our guests. The stunning unique view of Wat Po from the guest rooms is truly memorable. ... more   less
