Sala Arun is a great location if you want to see Wat Pho and The Grand Palace. It's right on the water so if you choose to eat there, you have a nice view of Wat Arun. There are a couple restaurants in walking distance but there isn't much to do in this area other than the previously mentioned places.... More

Had a lovely meal here, all the food was lovely as were the staff, prices seem ok for a restaurant on the river. If you want a table right beside the water you need to book by the looks of it. The dining room is on the decking, the water makes a bit of a noise banging against the quay... More

We stayed in the Sala Suite at the beginning of our trip around SE Asia and found it so enjoyable we returned a month later before our return to the UK. First let me tell you the view from the hotel cannot be beaten. Wat Arun on the far bank of the river and Wat Pho from the rear window.... More

The location is very good, the rooms are OK, the view of the river and tha Wat Arun in beautiful. But the hotel is in a bad shape, no elevator, very steep stairs and is much too expensive. It is also difficult to find.

We had a great meal of local foods while looking over the river. Good food & drinks, good service & reasonable price. A wide enough selection on the menu to satisfy most tastes. The view is very enjoyable.

A perfect place for a romantic diner, you have a beautiful view on Chao Praya river and wat Arun. The food is excellent. Thai people say this restaurant is located on angel road between both temples, wat arun and wat Po. Enjoy you stay !

What a view! The other half found this gem. We arrived on an early flight which I emailed the hotel beforehand. They stored our luggage whilst we explored for morning, near by Grand Palace and Watt Pho. Tuk Tuk's were cheap to the main areas in the evening. You have barter! Found the area peaceful in the evening and slept... More

We had booked a deluxe room facing the Chao Phraya river and Wat Arun. We got room “Chiangsan” on the 1st floor of Sala Arun facing Wat Arun (with exhaust fan of the hotel restaurant on the balcony, be aware of the noise!). View to Wat Arun from some riverside rooms can be blocked by the tree in front of... More

When we arrived we were upgraded and sot the suite om the top floor: beautiful view over the river and Wat Arun that literally beams into the room at night; on the other side of the apartment, though the bathroom window, there is a view on Wat Pho... hard to beat. Note however that the room can be noisy in... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
