We stayed in U-Place, Bangkok for 6 nights in January 2012. We booked the hotel on the back of some good reviews and because of the location which is set around 10 minutes walk from Khaosan Road. This means you get a good nights sleep but your not far from the mayhem that Bangkok has to offer. The hotel itself...

I spent the last two weeks travelling around Thailand and the accommodation in U Place was by far the best for service and value for money. The Hotel is very modern with excellent facilities that you would expect from a more expensive resort, modern spacious rooms including free wireless internet access, a helpful porter, lovely swimming pool and gym. There...

Located approx 10-15 minute walking or a quick taxi/tuk tuk from Khao San rd, this is a great boutique hotel. Everything is very modern and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is small and quiet and has a beauiful pool and small (very small) gym. Great place for a couple or friends to stay that want...

Stayed with two adults and one child in a two-room (one-bedroom) apartment. Very clean, simply but nicely furnished, spacious. Staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Only downside - I wouldn't have felt comfortable coming home on foot in the dark on my own, in a taxi or with company no problem though.

Stayed for two weeks and primary consideration was proximity to UNESCAP. It is about a 20 min walk, 5 mins by tuk tuk/taxi, Trang, Swana & DeMoc hotels are slightly closer and all around the same price or less. Still I might go back because something about the neighbourhood (a bit closer to walk to KhaoSan, right next to Wat...

Tricky place to find but this is probably because the hotel is new. We were recommended this hotel by our previous one who couldn't extend our stay. We arrived late and were greeted by a friendly, helpful English man who helps out in the evenings. We were shown our room, he put us on the top floor and I think...

This is a brand new block of spacious and spotless rooms very central and has an outdoor pool and lots of air. The rooms are ultra modern and architect designed. My room had never been used before! The bed linen was white and brand new! It is Bangkok's best kept secret. It appears to be family run and basically the...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
