Charlie guesthouse is not far away from the city centre and it's not expensive either. Me and my friend payed 450 Baht per night for a 2-bed dorm with aircondition and private bathroom. The staff had sometimes trouble with our English, but all in all we've understood each other. Our room was comfy and always kept clean. I can recommend...

I have stayed here a few times after getting fed up with the Khao san road, the best thing about Charlies is that it is only a 2 minute walk from the MRT (subway system) and a 10 minute walk to the Silom BTS (skytrain). A friend and I usually share a twin room costing 580 baht, that is with...

Stayed here in May 2013 as I took a CELTA course and the school promoted the guest house. I'm not sorry I stayed here. I did find a few other places that were a little better after I paid that I would have preferred. The owner is quite nice, if you drop laundry off at 8am it will be done...

Very cheap accommodation, and not the most comfortable. On our arrival, the rooms seemed to be clean, but the bedding clearly hasn't been changed – hair and coins were found under the sheets. The rooms had a very moldy smell - there are carpets in the rooms, and you don't know what may be alive in it. The bathrooms were...

Having previously stayed at Charlie's House, Pinklao, and liked it, we thought we would stay at the Lumpini branch, because it is more central and has a metro station just down the road, but we were very disappointed. There seem to have been some difficulties with security because the rooms have padlocks and chains to supplement the ordinary door lock....

Charlie House was a great find. The rooms are good value, spacious, clean and very quiet (walls are thick enough). The location is good, a short walk from the Lumphini park metro. Staff were very friendly and always helped us by giving directions to the places we needed to find. Loved the bacon sandwiches for breakfast!

They charge for an overnight 'guest' if that is what your taste is. One disadvantage of staying here is that they put the shutters down at night and you have to ring the bell for the night porter to come out and pull up the shutters again. OK for maximum of 2 nights but no more. Hard to find as...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
