Very cheap accommodation, and not the most comfortable. On our arrival, the rooms seemed to be clean, but the bedding clearly hasn't been changed – hair and coins were found under the sheets. The rooms had a very moldy smell - there are carpets in the rooms, and you don't know what may be alive in it. The bathrooms were... More

Having previously stayed at Charlie's House, Pinklao, and liked it, we thought we would stay at the Lumpini branch, because it is more central and has a metro station just down the road, but we were very disappointed. There seem to have been some difficulties with security because the rooms have padlocks and chains to supplement the ordinary door lock.... More

Charlie House was a great find. The rooms are good value, spacious, clean and very quiet (walls are thick enough). The location is good, a short walk from the Lumphini park metro. Staff were very friendly and always helped us by giving directions to the places we needed to find. Loved the bacon sandwiches for breakfast!

They charge for an overnight 'guest' if that is what your taste is. One disadvantage of staying here is that they put the shutters down at night and you have to ring the bell for the night porter to come out and pull up the shutters again. OK for maximum of 2 nights but no more. Hard to find as... More

Since several years ago we've very much enjoyed staying in Charlie House Pin Klao, we thought this one would be similar. What a mistake! The location itself is great, not too far from metro and Lumpini park, close to fabulous Soi Polo restaurant (cheap, filled with locals and has greeat food). But the room! Like an elongated corridor with no... More

I stayed at Charlie House Lumphini in July of '10 for 30 days when I was doing my CELTA in Bangkok. The building itself was aging a little bit, but the rooms were clean and air conditioned. Some of the rooms have windows and some don't. Upon check-in I was to have a room without a window, but the staff... More

The room that we stayed in was quite shabby, with a musty smell, a theme replicated throughout the building as far as I could tell. The aircon unit gushed water onto the carpet, and the external fans outside the window hummed loudly all night meaning that it was difficult to sleep with the window open. Rooms were not really clean,... More

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
