If you are searching for a budget place to stay near Siam's shopping district, Tongpoon Hotel is the place to go. The place is clean and the strawberry jam for breakfast is yummy. Friendly and helpful staff, too.
I booked this hotel in a rush without realising I hadn’t read any reviews on it. I booked it because of its location and because it was much cheaper than some of the other hotels in the area. It was only on the way there...More

Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for
a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.
