We decided after driving by this hotel many times on our way to Taipei that we should at least stay here once. It was a little difficult to get checked in and out here. I am not sure if we just got a trainee or what but it worked out. We booked 2 rooms close together. One room with a...

I stayed at the Grand Hotel in Taipei many years ago, probably before I had traveled to 100 countries. I have now been to 152 countries around the world and my stay at the Grand Hotel is one of the fondest. The people I was visiting there actually booked me there and I am so thankful that they did. I...

The Grand Hotel here in Taipei is just like the one you see in the movie "Grand Hotel" from the 1930s. Everything here is done with refinement and good taste. There are free live classical music performances on weekend evenings, and the staff goes out of their way to assist you in every possible detail. Complimentary Sunday papers are delivered...

My wife and I stayed in this luxury hotel as part of an official visit to Taiwan. Build by Chiang Kai Shek to house important visitors to Taiwan, over fifty years ago, it is a monument of classical chinese palatial architecture. Everything about this hotel is huge and fantastic. Past visitors include Nixon, Reagan, Thatcher, Mandela, the Shah of Iran,...

The Grand Hotel is an exquisite palace of Chinese culture and heritage. I always visit here on my trips to Taipei, if only to have a photo op. The buffet serves an excellent assortment of Chinese dishes and sushi. The rooms open onto balconies that are open along the whole wall so you can get a close look at the...

This is a Grand Hotel! A real one! Sure there are many glitches and problems, but I loved staying here; this is close enough to the splendor days when it was built that it was really enjoyable to be a guest here, and I could overlook the quirks and issues. These are there and if you mind them too much,...

I have not stayed here. I have eaten at the Sunday brunch buffet in the lobby twice. It is huge. The food is a little inconsistent, but not bad. While we ate we listened to performers in the lobby playing traditional instruments and tradtional music. The environment makes it worth the cost. We were a party of six. The others...

A hotel with a lot of history and well worth the price to stay. I stayed two nights in the Chi-Lin rooms facing east, and there was a fantastic view of the 101 Building in the distance.
