Tiger Mountain sets standards for comfortable Pokhara hotels. It is 30 minutes from Pokhara; on a hilltop ridge, with panoramic mountain views. With its relaxed atmosphere, sustainable-tourism and conservation ethos, the lodge is a unique haven in Nepal. The lodge has won awards including PATA Heritage and Culture Gold Award. With just 18 rooms, it provides comfort and attention to personal service. An ideal base for walks, day hikes, local culture, massage, yoga, birding, sightseeing and good food. Free Wifi is available in public rooms. Independently audited, the lodge has achieved Gold Standard in the GSTC Travelife Sustainability Audit. People are at the core of every lodge or hotel - over 85% of our staff have been with the lodge since our start, twenty years ago, in October 1998. They are the most precious asset and always strive to ensure every guest has a special time at the lodge.

On the day we arrived the sky was clear enough and we could see part of the Annapurna range. The same day we went on a 3-hour hike. the easiest trail, after lunch. It was a nice and relatively easy hike in the mountains. Our guide pointed out different species of butterflies and

Dear annalZ2652MC, Thank you for your super review. We were all sorry you arrived sick and hope our good food and care speeded your recovery! Hot water is available 24 hours actually. Rooms with solar panels tend to produce the best supply in the afternoon naturally. We are pleased that we have just launched our own eco shampoo and conditioner specially made for us in Kathmandu by Laavanya Luxury Ayurveda. All our guides live to take guests out to shelter and explore the local community around the lodge - rich in flora and fauna as you note. Lalu and his team in the kitchen are happy you enjoyed the meals too. All good wishes for Christmas and for 2019, Marcus, Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj and Lalu

Dear triplover1968, Thank you for your praise for all the team at the lodge. We aim to ensure all our guests feel the lodge is a home-from-home and that it is something of a haven from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While there is much to do: walks, yoga, meditation, reading, Zumba, paragliding and more, there is no guilt in doing absolutely nothing! Rest assured, Marcus is not indispensable! It is a team effort and in his absence, Jhalak, Hari and all ensure guests receive care and every attention. With all our best wishes for a Happy Christmas and fine Year of Travels ahead, Dol Raj, Lalu, Ishwar, Jhalak and Marcus

Dear ZakZapper, Thank you so much for your fabulous review. Yes, over 87% of the staff have been here from the beginning and most of the 'new' staff have been here 10 years or more! It is a family and one with pride in the work but without the arrogance that can creep in when praise is widespread. Now all remains for you to return, explore more of Nepal (happy to help organise this) and return to the lodge to share fresh experiences of this magical land with us. All good wishes from every one of us, Ishwar, Lalu, Dol Raj, Jhalak and Marcus

I was back at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge with my clients. They loved the location, the rooms, the service and the attention to the smallest of details. TMPL is definitely one the few premium hotels in Nepal. Will be sending more clients when opportunities arise.

Dear Anita, We all look forward to your visit in early May. Weather will be warm with highs of around 28C (82F) and lows of 15C (60F). By May, late afternoon thunderstorms are normal. We advise to do any outdoor activities in the morning for this reason. If the storm rolls in there are plenty of places to sit and read or take a cup of local tea. Alight fleece or cardigan makes sense. Shoes: walking boots are not needed but some sensible shoes that support the ankle (trainers) are ideal for walks. We also provide shawls in your room. My apologies for the delayed reply. Marcus Tiger Mountain

Hello Todd, I am glad you like our fireplace. The room is only smoky when the weather is too warm for a fire! With cold air outside the smoke is drawn up and out through louvers in the roof. Also, the air is very still at night in the winter and this helps ensure a steady column of smoke rising up directly, not blowing about the room. The metal ring is aesthetic only - to create a sense of height in the centre of the room. An alternate option may be that designed by the famous Boris Lisanevitch for his Royal Hotel 'Yak and Yeti Bar' where he had a central fire with a copper conical chimney up to the ceiling. This can be seen today in Hotel Yak & Yeti's main restaurant. Enjoy designing your mountain retreat! Best wishes from us all at Tiger Mountain.

Dear Michigan_Chipshot, My recommendation is to visit after September - so a December visit is perfect. Dwarika's is fine - a wonderful hotel and safe. Do stay there; it is also close to the airport so very convenient. You can fly easily to Nepal via Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, etc. The airport in Kathmandu is back to normal operation. Although there is some damage in the Kathmandu Valley, there are still many wonderful cultural icons to see - The Kumari (Living Goddess) in Kathmandu Durbar Square; the Nyatapola Temple in Bhaktapur and the treasury of arts in Patan Durbar Square - yes all open and available. Further west, Pokhara and westwards is absolutely fine and unscathed. Bardia National Park is a wonderful base for wildlife. Easy treks from Pokhara to Ghandruk are open for business. Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha is open and a cultural must-do en route from Pokhara to Bardia by road. Equally there are flights via Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Come to Nepal, enjoy Nepal and please give generously to the reconstruction of Nepal - for cultural heritage we recommend Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust. Best wishes, Marcus

Dear 137Renata1313, Yes, indeed all our rooms have a mountain view. If you wish to make a booking, please let us know in your email that you would like a room close to the lodge. We will happily then allocate room 6 or 7 to you - nearest the lodge. We are also happy to have our staff escort your to / from the lodge at any time - a helping hand is no bad thing! Please feel free to ask. Do contact us through our website to book - we are so happy that you are interested to visit.

the rent is for how many rooms.
Dear snsamrat, I am sorry, but I do not follow your question? All our rates are per person per night exclusive of taxes and on a full board plus basis - to include accommodation on twin sharing basis, all meals, snacks, non-bar hot beverages and the services of guides for activities. We are a lodge, not a chalet of rental property. Do feel free to contact our sales team - or through our website. Sadly, TripAdvisor does not allow me to give you our email address or website details. With best wishes, Marcus
