If I could I would give them ZERO stars! We were put up here on our trip to Nepal and the very first day I had to beg for food and hot water for my baby and family. The chef paid no heed whatsoever to our requests. He and all the staff were busy following soccer and considered us to... More

We started our Nepal trip in this hotel. Location was good, in Thamel area with restaurants and shopping nearby. The hotel has a nice garden area at the front where you can sit sipping a cup of coffee, a beer or something else. Staff was nice and helpful. Rooms were very basic with total lack of cosiness. Aircondition was ineffective... More

This hotel was suggested to us by the people who arranged our trek to basecamp Everest. The cost is affordable and the staff, very friendly and helpfull. It is situated about 2 blocks off the main streets of Kathmandu and as a result, acceptably quiet. It is clean, spacious and the food reasonable. Still, we as North American, cannot drink... More

The rooms are nice in this walled enclave a few short steps from the enchanting turmoil that is the Thamel District of Kathmandu. We really like the compromise of a relatively modern, clean hotel in the center of the confusion and charm of the old business district of the city. Good internet, good restaurant with an ethnically diverse menu.

I arrived at the hotel with attitude because it wasn't my choice; I was talked into it by my trekking company. But, from the moment I arrived, I had to admit that it really wasn't that bad. What it lacked in atmosphere (it's a standard Kathmandu-modern multi-storey with no Newari architecture), it more than made up for in its practical... More

This isn't a bad hotel in Kathmandu. Very central in Thamel. Close to shops and restaurants. Staff are accommodating although they could use a few more smiles. The rooms are clean but bathrooms are substandard. Water pressure is almost non existent so it's so hard to take a shower and the water smells like sewer. I must say though, their... More

After experiencing some pretty 'basic' Thamel hotels on previous trips to Kathmandu, the Samsara was a delight. Set in a quiet side-street, yet in the heart of Thamel, it is clean and spacious. The staff smile and the manager couldn't be nicer and more helpful. Free internet and wi-fi, loads of hot water, and a generator to get over those... More

We stayed here on three different occasions during our stay in Nepal. It is located just steps away from the main streets of Thamel. Nice garden in front of hotel. We stayed in room 406 during two visits, it was clean and well presented with a view over the garden. The bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water. Towels were... More

In the centre of Thamel, but set back with its own garden, it is a quiet haven, from the busy outside streets. The rooms are clean and with constant hot water, a real treat after beginning in the mountains. The staff are very friendly and helpfully. I look forward to my return visit.
