Well, this was my first foreign trip without my family, so to say…or was it??!! An amazing politico-socially conscious person Mr. Sudhir with his wonderfully cordial wife, serene parents and a divinely peeking so cute baby boy, altogether made the house so hospitable that I totally had to forget I was out of home. May God bless this family, I am quite sure I want to meet them lots of times in future. Namaste and Salaam. F. M. Tunvir Shahriar Lecturer University of Dhaka Bangladesh

It was a very nice experience with your family, I felt like a member of them…I hope in all my future trips I find a second family like Shree anandapur !!! Your wife is a very good cooker, the dishes were delicious. I enjoyed the whole time – I wish you and your family all luck of the world. You teach us a lot of your tradition, day life and religion. I like the life in Nepal – it is simple and beautiful. Maybe one time we sill se us again. Best wishes for you and your family – Thank you! We are sure little Sayon will have a big future and became a great one!

For people looking for a homestay choice outside of the chaos of Kathmandu, I highly recommend Shree Anandapur. Sudhir and Sarita are great hosts, extremely friendly and welcoming. They are sensitive to your needs, and it’s really up to you how much engagement you want with them and the family. Nice if you are in the mood to chat and interact, and nice if you just want to chill out in your room. Food – breakfast and dinner – is really good, and you won’t go hungry. Sarita is accommodating and wants to know what you like and don’t like so she can adjust accordingly. Sudhir is very knowledgeable about the area and can help with arrangements like taxis or tours. He was very helpful in helping me to find my way to local sites and day hikes. The room I had was nice sized – big bed, small couch and table - and when I was there I was the only one staying with the family so I had the top floor to myself. There are two other rooms and one bathroom for the whole floor. The bathroom had a shower with plenty of hot water. Wi-fi was available though a bit slow. While the evenings are quiet, the animals start early and you might hear them so if you need solitude I might recommend ear plugs. The town of Thali is fairly small so if you are an American like me, you won’t find a lot of night life, which is fine because the dinner and family time at Shree is good stuff (plus, you can stay in Thamel if you want that). From Thali you can walk to Changunaryan and to Sundarijal. Most other places you will need to arrange for transportation which is easy enough and relatively inexpensive. The only negative thing I can think of was that the power went out on a few occasions and the back-up system wasn’t quite ready yet (though I understand it will be soon). Again if you are looking for a homestay option you won’t go wrong staying at Shree with Sudhir and Sarita.
