We stayed at this hotel because the tour organiser suggested it, I probably would never have picked it if I had organised this trip myself and I am so glad that we did stay here. It was clearly once a fantastic hotel Great Gatsby style and a centre of culture and activity. And it is still a great place, and... More

I stayed here twice and the first room I had was definitely very musty and a little elderly. The second stay was in a suite and this was very nice. I tried the restaurant and the food was excellent. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. So, if you can look past the negatives, the hotel makes for a... More

This hotel was booked by my travel company as part of an organized tour. I'd read the reviews, and looked at the its web site, so was very much looking forward to my stay. On the plus side, the Vajra is situated within a large, tranquil garden; a nice contrast to the busy streets of Kathmandu. I was originally allocated... More

Stayed here a couple of years back but try to visit in every trip to Kathmandu. A lovely ambiance, and on most Sunday evenings a performance of vajra dance. This dance is a moving meditation which is unique to the Newari people and culture of Nepal. Restaurant very good but can be a bit prices if on a budget but... More

This hotel is elegant with richly carved wood doors, staircases and fixtures. The rooftop garden and patio are also very nice but this hotel is musty and the rooms smell of mildew. The region is hot and humid and I think a fan in the rooms would help tremendously. clothes do not dry overnight and the towels are damp and... More

A fine hotel with large rooms and bathrooms. The style is classic Newari and Tibetan. Excellent furnishing and cosy large beds. There is a roof terrace and a superb garden. Also 2 roof terraces and and organic garden. The view from the roof terrace shows all the city in one direction and the Monkey Temple in the other. I have... More

We were comfortable and the restaurant was convenient and decent. Lost power quite often, and the wifi was very spotty, but I think this is a general Kathmandu thing. Otherwise the facilities were clean, and the outdoor space was especially relaxing.

This is a nice stay , the hotel staff are really friendly. Just a little away from the airport , and main attractions of kathmandu so prepare to walk or catch a taxi when you wanna go around. Have a inside camp fire just feels cozy to just sit around with wine and read a book in the winter nights.

This place is the example of once upon a time I was a great hotel. Total waste of money. No electricity for hot shower. Nothing at all. Looks like a hotel stuck in time. If you want a better stay choose somewhere around Thamel.

The service at Hotel Vajra felt very reluctant. Rooms were ok, but felt tired and a little dirty. The buildings and grounds look delightful in a sprawling manner, but feel like they have had minimal care or maintenance in recent years. Internet/wifi coverage was very intermittent.
