Door knob fell off in my hand, so I left while they fixed the door. Upon returning I entered and locked the door. After taking a shower I dressed and reached for the lock. I could not turn the lock, so I was locked into my own room! Of course there was no phone because there was no power. So,...

I always stay and always will stay at the Utse when I'm in Kathmandu. The family who run it make you feel like you're at home. The rooms are nicely decorated and the food in the restaurant is very good. The hotel is full of character. They have some beautiful Tibetan artefacts on display. But it's the warm welcome and...

I have been coming to Kathmandu since 1992. I have stayed in many hotels in the city, but none is better than Hotel Utse! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant is very good, and the atmosphere is like coming home. I highly recommend you stay at the Utse, you won't be disappointed. Utse Hotel is run by a lovely Tibetan family. The staff are all friendly and the family make you feel as though you are a part of their group. I have stayed at Utse four times now, and coming up for five. I would not stay anywhere else in Kathmandu - my heart belongs to Utse!

We were given tiny tiny room, there was only cold water, windows into nowhere with sparking electricity cables, iit was a bit scary ... anyway, it was seenable, the owners are doing their best to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome. hotel interior...

This hotel is a good choice because it is centrally located in Thamel, but surrounding are not noisy like in many other areas. It is a old hotel, but well maintained and has a expert and welcoming service. Food is also a highlight if you want to try Tibetan specialties.
