We stayed at Ambassador Garden Home a number of times throughout our stay in Nepal. It is an absolute oasis of calm amongst the bustle of Thamel and is in an excellent location. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Occasionally things didn't go perfectly – like forgetting to pick us up from the airport despite arranging a transfer –...

Love the Ambassador Garden Home. They offer consistent quality and service. The staff is nice. The atmosphere in the lobby is warm and cosy. It is like a home away from home. You will have access to wifi (sometimes a bit iffy) and electricity 24 hours a day (even during power cuts). The superior rooms are quite small, as is...

This hotel is a low key, clean, cozy and has great service. Nothing fancy but it is a perfect stay if you don't want to spend too much on a hotel. As most have mentioned, the AC and power cuts can be a bit of downer but if you can handle a little bit of 'generator' noise than you'll be...

We spent three nights at the AGH in mid-June. The hotel is lovely and the staff is excellent. The power cuts are annoying because when the power goes out in the middle of the night, the AC does not automatically come back on. This means that you wake up in a sweat at 2AM and have to manually restart the...

I was pleased with this place. The rooms were clean and quiet. The AC worked find but you had to turn it on manually...it doesn't just pop on when you put the key in the power slot like modern hotels. This is Nepal afterall, there is nothing modern there. The huge lock on the door could be a pain at...

I often travel to Nepal and have stayed in many of the Kathmandu hotels. The Ambassador Garden Hotel was by far my best experience yet. The rooms are very comfortable, the location is perfect - in the heart of Thamel and the service was outstanding. The staff could not do enough for us and we almost immediately felt like we...

I stayed here for two nights over Easter, on the strong recommendation of friends. I had quite high expectations of the place based on their recommendation, so didn't find the hotel to be quite up to what I'd expected. But based on its own merits - it's fantastic value. First and foremost: staff and owners are extremely friendly. It's spotless,...

I was in Kathmandu for work in January and was in search of a place that offered backup power, WiFi, and had hot water - something of a problem in Nepal in the wintertime. Having been to a number of places that claimed to have amenities they in fact did not, a colleague recommended The Ambassador Garden Home to me....

Lets get the negatives out of the way: Booking this place directly is a pain in the [--]. We had to call them repeatedly, reconfirm airport pickup a couple of times and finally just hope that they would be there to pick us up and accomodate us. But all those worried went out of the window once we landed. We...

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May, and it was the perfect hotel. Beautiful setting, a nice retreat from the fervor of Thamel streets every day. The staff was incredible and arranged everything we needed, from cabs to tours to meal reservations. The rooms are very clean with hot water, normal toilets, cable and wireless internet....
