Rishi and his staff were wonderfully welcoming, always friendly and helpful. I had previously stayed in another Thamel hotel that was dirty, dark and the staff were not friendly, so Hotel Potala was a wonderful change and I will definitely be staying here again whenever I am in KTM. The staff even brought me an extra blanket without my asking...

My husband and I needed to move from our previous guesthouse to something more within our budget. We pay only $10 a night, and our room is very comfortable... especially given the fair price we paid. The power in the city goes out often, but the staff always offer to bring us a thermos of tea or hot water. They...

The best things about Hotel Potala are its rooftop garden, with its great city views, its location (very central Thamel), and the restaurant (excellent chocolate pancakes for breakfast). Yes the amenities could be more modern, but the rooms are great value and the staff happy to help you with anything! There is a bit of noise at night but this...

The hotel is situated in the very centre of life in Thamel, as day-life (shops, restaurants...) so as well nightlife. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the hotel staff is amazingly kind and friendly. The hotel restaurant on the terrace is very comfortable and nicely situated, as for cozy breakfasts, so as well for calm dinners despite the busy...

It was nostalgia that had us staying here for one night. We had stayed here a number of times way back in 2000, so when we returned to Thamel we thought - "Why not". The same beautiful happy people are there running the place - actually it's the son now whose in charge, but we saw Dad again and it...

I spent only one night at Hotel Potala. It is located in the heart of Thamel, so take a pair of earplugs if you are afraid of the noisy nightlife. Apart from that, the family running the guest house is more than nice. They carried my (heavy) luggage until the 4th floor. They were worried that my light would not...

The owner and his family who run this place are very friendly and serviceminded. The room is small and simple with som nice details, but what it has is enough. A towel and a soap is a bonus for this cheap place. The restaurant belonging to the hotel is also a bonus! Even if the restaurants name is Veg. MoMo,...

Hotel Potala (not to be confused with Potala Guesthouse down the road) is my favourite hotel in Thamel. The rooms are clean and comfortable with reliable hot water and amazingly good wifi. Most importantly though, the staff are an absolute delight. I stayed three times and was recognised and warmly welcomed on the second two. Most importantly the staff at...
