The room we got was big but dirty and it was very hot inside with no fan at all. Plus the staff was not helpful. There was suppose to be wifi, but it did not work and the staff said that they are not about to get it fixed which was annoying. Other than that the location is next to...

Management response:

Hello Noam, Thank you for your review. We at New City Annex Hotel appreciate both positive and negative reviews because they are key performance indicators. I sincerely apologize about the room being dirty and the lack of hospitality by the housekeeping staff. I am taking up this matter seriously with them and disciplinary action will be taken. I also apologize...

The Annex is centrally located and the staff is super friendly. As a Peace Corps volunteer I stay here all the time, and you're getting a good deal for your money. Directly opposite the National Theater and down the street from Oasis Mall, don't take pictures of Parliament!

Great location, great room. Good prices fit backpackers. Has a mutual toilet and shower but there is hot water and the place is really clean. There is WiFi but didn't work when we stayed there which was a bummer.

New City Annex is a great budget hotel option in the heart of Kampala. It is not fancy, but it offers good security, friendly staff, reliable hot showers, fans and nets, same-day laundry service, cold beer. Both self-contained and shared bathroom facilities are available. It is convenient to downtown, two malls, easycoach bus terminal, and lots of restaurants, banks, etc....

This hotel doesn't look fancy and one can't really compare it to a U.S. hotel. However, the staff is amazing and super friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I had a standing fan in my room to make the environment comfortable during the hot/ humid rainy season. Mosquito nets are provided for each bed. The showers/toilets were very clean...

I have stayed here many times in both the single and double rooms, and have found the place to be secure. The best and safest budget option in this part of town. Rooms can be hot, and downtown location results in some noise at night. The staff will bring you a working fan if your room does not have one.

Not much more to say, it's just ok. The value would be much better if breakfast were included, but it's not. The location is the best part. The shower was hot. The mattresses, sheets and fans need to be replaced. If your are just in town a night or two it will be fine, but otherwise you will want to...

Great location in Central Kampala with good restaurants and bars on the same street. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size with very clean shared bathrooms and decent hot showers. Good value for money and would stay again.

One of the cheapest and cleanest accommodations in Kampala. Rooms are clean with mosquito nets, including fan but still hot at night. Little noisy, but what do you want for such a cheap room? Restaurant was good, although if you order eggs + toast, the toast arrives 10 minutes later than the egg... Reception was pretty rude and unfriendly, but...

I spent my first weekend in Kampala here, it is a nice hotel in the middle of town. The staff was friendly and the rooms were simple and clean. There was also a restaurant in the building that seemed nice.

“My favorite room is 118 (triple room) on the North Wing near reception because it has a balcony. The other triples in the south wing are nice too, especially 123 in the corner because it has many windows.”
