This is the 4th or 5th time I've stayed overnight at Chameleon between 2007 and 2018. Satisfied customers become repeat customers! The people are always friendly, the rooms clean and the breakfast is an added bonus. The pool and bar area create a relaxing atmosphere...More

We stayed in a private room at Chameleon for 6 days before a week long Namibia tour and then for 2 nights after. The private rooms are really nice and give you the best of both worlds (comfort and privacy but with a backpacker vibe...More

Hi Em,
Many thanks for taking the time to review Chameleon. It sounds like you had a great time and that makes us very happy. We try to make our home as welcoming as possible and we will be adding cold meat, cheese and fruit...More
We stayed at Chameleon for one night before we headed off to Etosha. It's in Windhoek town, so you can get to places easily, but not at night. Chameleon has a secure gate/parking spaces for bigger vehicles. Late check in was also possible but your...More

Wonderful hostel almost in the town. Walking distance to all sightseeings. Friendly staff and great food. Kitchen with good equipments is perfect for cooking and baking. Luxury double room was perfect. Pool area is great for sunbathing but be careful with the sun.
I visited Chameleon in November as I was exploring Namibia and truly felt at home there. The facilities are well kept, the beds, comfortable, and the staff friendly. However, my favorite part was the kitchen. It was very well equipped, spacious, and clean. I cooked...More

I bought at their travel agency 2 day trips in Windhoek. Whole day to Naankuse - 1800 NAD including a wonderful lunch (feed carnivores in the morning and meet the San people in the afternoon). Then afternoon trip to Katutura 300 NAD. Regarding safaris or trips, I booked with Wild Dogs, but I know they have same tours, and more or less same prices. I hope this help.

Hi Viktor,
Namibia is traditionally a tough country to travel independently if you are used to relying on public transport and budget accommodation however with 4 weeks you could probably get around to some of the sights if you are adventurous. However, if you are open to hiring a vehicle and camping, and able to find others to share the experience with then you can certainly control your budget and see most the places that you want to see in a 4 week period. My recommendation would be to send us an email, you can find our email address on our website, with the following information and we can pop that up on our notice board for you and if anyone is going to be around during the same period they can get in touch with you directly;
Travel dates
Destinations you want to visit
Contact details
Would be worth doing a little research into the different options if you do think that is a good option for you, looking at the costs of cars per day, types of car that you will need for the route you want to do, rough budget of fuel for the route etc, and checking out some of the different campsites or lodges as these can really vary in price.
Alternatively, if you are looking for tours, we can also assist, just let us know and we can point you in the right direction for your time, interests and budget.
Cheers,
Claire
