Location - Really good, with a nice view of the ocean. Design - Colonial style build during the time when Portugal was controlling the country. It has many aspects important at that time: space rooms, decor, furniture. Room - Our room was large and comfortable. Service - A little slow but the staff was friendly and the concierge helpful. The Polana is one of my favourite hotels in Maputo. I stay here 2 to 3 times a year. It offers the best sea views and swimming pool in town and for all the fitness enthusiasts a very well equipped gym and spa. I would recommend a room on the outside of the main building, other side of the pool...

True colonial gem. After staying in Mozambique this was an exceptional experience. Old world charm. Try to get the ocean view. As swimming in the ocean is not the way to go lounging by the pool is excellent,

I'd like to (again) congratulate the Serena team and especially the General Manager Mr Miguel Dos Santos and his team for providing an excellent stay and room upgrade. The breakfast is always fresh, gym, pool and saunas clean, overall exceeding a 5 star hotel in the region. Stayed here more than 8 times before for between 2 and 7 days...

As a luxury travel writer for World-Adventurer.com, I've stayed in several grand historic hotels around the world. Poland Serena Hotel is one of those rare colonial masterpieces that has a place in history and a charm that will always remain. Here are the highlights. History: Walk through the halls. Look at the pictures. Ride the antique elevator. You can't miss...

The architecture of the hotel is fantastic, with sprawling grounds with numerous small courtyards and quiet spaces. Great ocean views. Rooms are comfortable, but lighting is inadequate and the electric plug needed to be repaired. Restaurants are very good, but quite expensive. The ballroom is stunning. Walking distance from lots of varied restaurants.

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times for business. The first time, back in 2007, I had a terrible experience. The room (in the main building, above reception) was very old, nothing really worked, old and dirty bathtub, service from staff was very, very, very slow and two times promises were not fulfilled (e.g., bring me a plug adaptor...

Polana is the oldest - and most prestigious (read expensive) hotel in Maputo. it has a beautiful and romantic garden, with a fantastic swimming pool facility, although at outrageous prices. But the restaurant on the other hand, has a limited menu with double up prices, yet when trying to order anything from the limited choices, they make all the efforts...
