Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for one night in the beginning of october and we enjoyed it.
Staff is really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great and serves excellent food. From the terrace of the restaurant you have a magnificent view over a part of the city.
We also did a one hour massage and this was great we can highly recommend this.
The room we had was a little bit small especially next to the bed and the bathroom is basic. The shower is in a bath (not a separate shower). The basic and little bit small room is the only reason why this place doesn't get 5 stars form us. But from the balcony of our room we had the same magnificent view as from the restaurant.
The hotel has also a small pool but we didn't use this.

We stayed here very shortly before heading elsewhere in Madagascar, so cannot assess the location. Welcoming and nice staff, clean room, TV, A/C, WiFi. A balcony with a view over Antananarivo. Hot water and toiletries in the bathroom. An okay buffet breakfast.

I stayed at this hotel for few days during my onward and return journey from Madagascar. The hotel is tiny and is comfortable. The restaurant is quite simple and does not offer great breakfast. I found their breakfast very underwhelming. They charge for an Omlette as well. It has a open terrace where one could sit and have a good view of the city. The rooms are tiny but comfortable. Nothing great to write home about. It definitely felt safe and secure in that property. If youa re looking for safety and security during your stay, this place is for you. Just don't expect five star service or hospitality. Their WI-FI is terribly slow.

My daughter and I spent two nights at this hotel in July at that start of our Madagascar tour. Rooms are well presented with great views of the city. Unfortunately we had quite a few mosquitoes in our room at night, no mosquito nets. If you stay here suggest you ask for mosquito coils, keep the air con running and make sure balcony room door is kept closed at all times.

Atypical hotel offering not only beautiful views of the city but also full of charms with precious wood bearing its name. It offers very nice rooms, clean and spacious. The massages are excellent and the spa is fine. Excellent quality food with a beautiful menu also with a beautiful terrace that enchants meals. I will regret the very poor quality Wifi during my visit while I had work and this need. I also regret the noise in the morning because I found myself in front of the management offices of the hotel which works the open door and for which I heard all the professional conversations. This remains a very good hotel and I would not hesitate to come back

A great choice for our Anatanariva stop over, with very welcoming and friendly staff. Rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. Refreshing pool and delicious food and drinks from the on site restaurant. Even though centrally located it was quiet at night.

We stayed at this hotel before and after an eleven day tour of Madagascar. The hotel was adequate for our purpose with its central location and easy access to the airport. The hotel was air conditioned, the rooms were clean and the hotel staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant provided both a la carte and set menu. I will have lasting memories of having a cold THB (Three Horses Beer) as I relaxed on the restaurant terrace with its sweeping views over the city. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other travellers.

We stayed 3 days in Hotel Royal Pallissandre in 2005. The room was good and a nice view. But the last day, before the check out, I open the savety box in our room and I saw that my wallet was moved. So, I checked my money and all my USD 100 banknotes disapeared. Same for my wife. We informed the management, Mrs Clerc. She said no problem because they had an insurrance. After 10 days, she gave me back around USD 400 most in local money. But the USD 900, we never see the color.
The problem is that she didn't tell us the truth. 1. She never checked the video system as she said 2. I never received the proof she informed her insurrance 3. We never seen the police for an interview and she said she informed the police.
I can say Mr & Mrs Clerc are not clear. We lost USD 900 ! Apparently, Mr Clerc is playing at the casino and only the managers can open the savety box.

They hotel is located in the center just above the main market. We where there twice. The first room had a really uncomfortable bed (two beds next to each other with very soft mattresses, a gap and step), the second room had a pretty good bed.
Breakfast is somewhat limited, service is friendly but otherwise the hotel is pretty basic.considering the price level. The first room did not have Kleenex, amenities very sparse (the tiniest soap I have seen in decades). No fruits, flowers, free water etc in the room.
Internet was sometimes spotty, but otherwise reasonably good and free.
Service at dinner was good, the food presentation always nice, but the food itself was sometimes excellent, sometimes borderline inedible - far too much salt and a mousseline with an extreme strong old fish taste.

My partner and I came to this hotel to use the advertised Hammam/ spa facility. Prices for massages were 8x higher than other massage centres such as Homeopharma but we decided to pay the extra premium so we could use the hammam and pool.
Upon arrival we were advised we would need to spend 100,000 ariary per person on treatments in order to use the other facilities. We paid 200,000 ariary for two massages (2 massages at homeopharma would have cost us 20,000 ariary).
We we're advised we would need to wait 90 minutes for our massage. In the meantime we decided to use the pool and hammam.
Upon entering the pool, we discovered the water to be too chilly for swimming plus there were numerous dead bugs floating around on the surface. The hammam consisted of one simple modern steam room - hardly what you could call a hammam.
Unhappy with the facilities, we decided to leave instead of waiting for our massages. We requested a refund but offered to pay for the 10 minutes we had used to pool and hammam. The spa receptionist refused our request. We asked to speak to the manager who also refused to refund any of our money. When we explained that we would be willing to pay for the usage of the pool/ hammam he asked us to name our price. We offered 20,000 ariary (enough to pay for two massages at homeopharma). He laughed at this offer but would not give us a price which he would accept. He advised that he could not provide us with any refund. He then disappeared only to return 15 minutes later where he stood before us silently with this arms folded, avoiding eye contact. We tried to reason with the manager but he was not listening.
He once again disappeared and failed to return. We then found him at the main hotel reception desk. He handed us 100,000 ariary and advised he could do no more. He also advised his conscience was now clear.
We then decided to have one of us massaged in order to avoid losing the other 100,000 ariary.
Our dealings with the manager of this hotel were very frustrating. At no time was he understanding, helpful, accommodating or professional. After three amazing weeks in Madagascar, this experience on our last day was most unfortunate and highly disappointing.
For those who wish to use the spa and the so-called 'Hammam', I would advise you first inspect the facilities prior to paying.
