Pleasant staff, international restaurant and circular restaurant annexe serving Ethiopian food in the evenings. Comfortable beds, no free WiFi. Extensive grounds but few places to sit in the grounds. Generally in need of a makeover but adequate for a night or two.

Have not seen other hotels in capital but this place is a bit dated. I thought the $11us charge for wifi was a bit steep considering it was free everywhere else I stayed in ethiopia and not does not work in much of the hotel which it should work in all rooms for that price!

The hotel was a welcome overnight stay on our onward journey. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is centrally placed in the city, and is in extensive peaceful grounds - a peaceful haven in the rush and bustle of Addis. The hotel itself shows signs of former glory, and could do with a face-lift. The food was adequate in...

The staff was usually nice, but not allways. Rooms are not so clean, especially the baths are in need of clean. Should wait a lot for hot water. Beds are comfortable, The park is beautyful. Riviera apartmans are better, but take care of the frogs!

I stayed here for two nights with a travel group. Upon arrival from the UK I wanted a shower, so I turned it on and the good news was that there was hot water! However, the wall bracket was barely attached to the wall so the shower missed the shower curtain and the bathroom floor flooded because the central drain...

We were in Addis for a family wedding which took place in one of their conference rooms. No, it isn't the Sheraton or Hilton but we liked the more Ethiopian flavour and the room price of about £50 between us for a garden view, first floor room. Plenty of space in the room, bathroom worked well as did the internet...

It is a great shame that this hotel has not kept up with the times, it was obviously a very good hotel in the sixties and seventies, a great shame because with a bit of TLC it could be a really good hotel. Standard rooms are very small, basic and not very clean. I asked to change rooms but hotel...

I only stayed in this hotel for one night as part of a longer tour. It was my first time in Ethiopia, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The room was ok, but I don't need much. I thought the food was good, and I really enjoyed walking around the grounds. I wish that the staff had been a...

When Haile Selassie invited the heads of state of the African States to Addis Ababa in 1963 to form the Organisation of African Unity they chose to stay at the Ghion Hotel. Now, at reception, you can see a photograph of all the African dignitaries of the time. Sadlythe hotel is still stuck in 1963. A bit of TLC would...

I have never stayed at this hotel, but I love walking its grounds. Some of the most beautiful flowers around. It has that old school feeling to it. In its restaurant, there is a balcony in the middle of the room where they serve traditional coffee ceremony during the lunch hours. It is really cool. One of my favorite places...
