I read a few negative reviews about Shoestrings but decided to give it a try anyway, this was the best decision ever because I was extremely satisfied with the place. The staff are amazing, truly the most consistently friendly, efficient and helpful people. The food at the cafe on the premises is reasonably priced and very good, I particulary liked...

We had a double ensuite room ($55-60/N USD). The room was basic (bed only had a bottom sheet and comforter), no shelf other than a rusty metal shower rack in the bathroom, but the AC worked even though it wasn't that hot - you would need AC later in the summer though for sure. The bar area does get going...

I stayed there with my own tent. Its cheap but the area for camping is small with very little grass, more dirt. Atmosphre is good, swimmingpool dirty. The restcamp campground not far away is a little bit more expensive, but very nice shady grass with beautiful big pool.

Accommodation sparse. Six of us had rooms booked, and 4 in one dorm, whilst two other males in their 50s were told they had to share with two teenage girls. For the money ($15 each) it was good value, but the luminous green pool was more stagnant than coloured. There could have been a crocodile in there and nobody would...

We stayed in a twin room. There was a fan on the ceiling but it didn't work properly, so it got hot in the room The beds were hard, mattrass had a ditch so it's like sleeping on the floor. The toilet seat was broken, but the shower was great The place does have a great atmosphere and location (walking...

After reading plenty of bad reviews about this place,I was very sceptical about staying here. But I ended up extending my stay here coz I had an amazing time. If you dont like dogs, dont stay here, if you dont like crowds and partying and meeting fun,new people, dont stay here. They had traditional dances in the evening which was nice...

The rooms are clean and very affordable. The location is central so one doesnt need a car or even a bike to move around. The evenings get very lively. Food prices are not cheaper than any other restaurants in town. Had a lovely time and would definitely recommend to low budget backpackers.

Four of us rented a family room at Shoestrings for three nights during our stay in VF. Due to the USD being Zim's currency, everything has gotten quite expensive and you will feel this in the falls. Shoestrings was a great place to stay on a budget. Clean, safe, secure, friendly staff etc. The one real money saver and best...

Despite it's really convenient central location and excellent, value for money kitchen, the rest of Shoestrings backpackers can only be described as a dump. Thank goodness I never stayed over there, as I can only imagine what the accommodation options are like. Yes, I do realise that it's a backpackers lodge and as such, ones expectations should be adjusted accordingly...

Shoestrings was the perfect place that we came across. Everything was just within walking distance. The staff was friendly. The cafe there makes excellent food for a good price. Since the place was packed, we only managed to get a tent with 4 beds in it, with no lights and zips to the tent broken. But hey, for $11 dollars...
