The accommodation and overall experience make York Lodge easy to recommend. The staff, room and food was all of a high standard and the service levels made this trip very easy. Getting out of the city to these beautiful gardens was a pleasure.
Great Calm Place with an exceptional Service. Feels like home, away from Home. I did not like that Pork was on the menu everywhere. But Great other food. Clean rooms. Need for more woolen carpet on the floor though.
Best place in Harare to stay - for business or leisure. I have come to Harare for the past 15-plus years for business and this is the best place to stay: the rooms are hugely comfortable, the staff is fantastic and one can hold one's meetings or work on one of the verandas, in the garden or lounge.
Thanks very much to Margot, Tina, Sue and all the staff at York Lodge during my quarantine stay. So comfortable, excellent food and amazing service. Recommend York to anyone, be it quarantine or normal running.
Probably one of the best locations in Harare. Top end quality establishment with all the modern comforts. Great attention to detail in the gardens but especially in the rooms. Very pleasant staff, highly professional and very happy to help with any requests. Excellent spread at all meals. High standards of cleanliness evident everywhere. Would not hesitate to recommend this venue to all kinds of travelers. Margot and her team are wonderful people.
I have never been to Harare before, and cannot compare to other similar places there, but has to say the York Lodge was a fantastic place to stay - much due to the extremely good service. I was not well during my stay, and everyone was so concerned, doing everything they could to make me feel all right. That combined with a fantastic cozy atmosphere means I will definately stay there again next time I go to Harare.
We travel to Harare on business every 6 to 8 weeks and decided to try another lodge because the previous place we stayed was continually disrespectful to one of our team. York Lodge were welcoming and really took care of all our team. Communication in booking the rooms by email was great and simple. Upon arrival we were met at the door and showed in to registration and taken to our rooms quickly and without hassle. The rooms are pretty nice. Looked as though they had recently been renovated and to a high standard. Very clean and spacious. Well appointed and equipped, there is everything you need in it to make you comfortable. Bedding was quality and the bed itself was nice and comfy. Wireless internet in the room was super fast and had no problems streaming anywhere in the compound. The breakfast was more than sufficient with plenty of choices on offer from fruit, cold meats and cheeses to fully cooked meals. Enough to start your day right. They even deliver coffee to your room at your designated time so you can sit on the porch and enjoy it before starting your day. They do offer a 3 course buffet dinner every night. We ate there only once, but enjoyed it. Everything is home made with care and all dietary needs are catered for. The staff are wonderful and really do take care of you. The owners are there at all times and always ensure all your needs are taken care off. Not all rooms have AC, but to be honest with the climate in Harare, it was really not needed. I slept with the windows open every night to get a cross breeze and it was cool enough to sleep. Not sure AC would work anyway because of the lack of electricity and the generator does not run at all times and the solar power system is not powerful enough to run them. Luckily the bed had netting as a couple of nights it rained and the flying ants were a problem, but with the bed net, it was fine. My only gripe about the place was the bar of hand soap. It made your hands sticky after using it. I had to use the bottle of body wash from the shower to wash my hands as I could not live with sticky hands from the bar of soap. We will definitely be staying here again. It’s a great place with great staff and owners and lovely rooms in a lovely locale. Many thanks York Lodge.…
On my many travels I discover from time to time a jewel. York Lodge is such a place. From the moment we were welcomed, the coffee and home made bisquits, to the lovely rooms and central honesty bar with ice cold beer we felt more than welcome. Margo and her team do an excellent job in difficult circumstances. My room was large with everything you would need, including a plug at the mirror for the hairdyer! Security is excellent and the gardens absolutely magnificent. Sitting outside enjoying breakfast in this lovely place makes you want to stay.
I travel frequently internationally for work and the York Lodge is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed anywhere in the world. This is particularly impressive given the difficult situation in the country that affects currency, fuel and electricity. It feels like an oasis in the middle of Harare. The rooms are beautifully decorated with many clever details. Solar power ensures that there is constant power in the room for a fan, mobile charger, bedside lamps and bathroom lighting, as well as uninterrupted and very fast wifi. This was my second time at the lodge travelling alone for work and it was a relief to arrive and be welcomed by the kind owners and staff. I had dinner on the veranda twice and it was excellent (food preferences catered for - I am a fish eating vegetarian). Breakfast is also amazing. I feel safe and relaxed here, and look forward to future stays.…
Lovely grounds and spacious room.Nothing is too much trouble- I had mistakenly left a prescription medicine behind in the UK but Margo drove me to Harare where we picked up a replacement-much appreciated .Excellent breakfasts and dinners and coffee/tea can be arranged if you ask .A very pleasant experience both on first and second visits.
