The rooms were very clean; they had a lot of natural light coming in through the big windows. Very well located just outside the medina and just a hundred metres away from both Avenue Bourguiba or the central train station (Place de Barcelone). Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms not particularly well designed but clean. Great architecture fitting with the...

This old grand hotel from the French colonies time. Staff nice, outside patio for relaxing and having a drink. Room a bit too simple but you have all you need. The location is fantastic close to medina and new city.

Classic simple hotel - OK it's a bit run down but utterly charming. Friendly helpful staff, big plain rooms, quiet central courtyard, spitting distance from old town, central market very near for fabulous fresh lunches with the marker traders. I loved it but if you want the big TV, room service, a room like a sterlile white box then it's...

It would be hard to imagine a better budget hotel in Tunis. This hotel is unpretentious from the outside, but offers good accommodation once inside. My wife and I stayed 4 nights, the first night in a room without a shower, after which we were able to move into a room with a shower overlooking the shady courtyard. Despite what...

We stayed at the Grand Hotel de France for 3 nights at the start of our trip and one night at the end and would definately recommend it if you are looking for a budget hotel in Tunis. It is also one of the better value places we stayed on our whole 18 night trip in Tunisia. The location is...

The Grand Hotel de France must be the best hotel in Tunis! This modest little hotel - well, if 56 rooms can be considered 'little' - is ideally located just a heartbeat away from the medina and Avenue Bourguiba. Given the location, the hotel is amazingly quiet. Many rooms - mine included - overlook a lovely central interior courtyard, where...

We originally stayed in another hotel in Tunis, but moved to this hotel after cleanliness issues and wished we had stayed here the whole time!!! Perfect location, good price and clean rooms with radiator heaters and cable TV. Would stay here again

I did not stay in the hotel but I still wanted to share the hotel's strange approach to hospitality. I called to see whether I can book a room. The man on the other line asked me when I would arrive, I said on Friday at around 20h. Immediate answer: "We do not take reservations for after 18h. Call the...

I consider this hotel as our best staying in Tunisia. Hotel Grand Hotel de France is a very charm place for people who appreciate the charm of old times. We really appreciate it and really enjoyed. On every piece of building and furniture you can find the traces of the beginning of the 20th century. And even is in the...

The Grand Hotel de France was a great choice for us and I endorse the positive comments of reviewers. We stayed on three separate occasions. I would advise that you email a booking because the hotel is busy with Tunisian guests as well. We always sent off an email booking and even though we never received a reply, there was...
