We spent two wonderful, most memorable days just around Kusini Camp off road Safari hunting finding 3 Cheetahs and a magnificent big large male Leopard! Wildlife was abundant the Thompson and Grant Gazelles, Giraffes, Hyenas, Wild Ostriches, etc. The only downside was an inconsistent, hard to connect WiFi connection that had a Firewall block. They had a request for new... More

Kusini is absolutely stunning, the camp, the staff, the food and the area! Kusini is in a remote part of the Serengeti, so it’s likely you won’t see another vehicle whilst here! Let me start with the rooms, beautifully appointed and so comfortable. You have everything you need. Nice big comfy bed, double sinked bathroom, hot water all day and... More

My wife and I had a wonderful, unforgetable trip to Tanzania's southern Serengeti plains at end-September 2016 (towards the end of the dry season). We both thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It was the realisation of a 50+ year dream for me. Abercrombie and Kent arranged the international and domestic flights, transfers, accommodation and game drives. We stayed at the wonderful... More

What a fantastic experience. Charlotte and Isbjörn were remarkable..be very hard pressed to find a couple who manage camps with such skill and friendliness elsewhere. The tents were fabulous and resident Buffalo chomping outside the tent at night and lion grunting......made one feel at home in the heart of East Africa. The setting in the camp is so removed from other... More

First of all, Charlotte and Isbjorn the couple/managers make the stay special. They are the friendliest, nicest, coolest people you will meet. Thanks Charlotte for the gift advices and the tips on where to go shopping. Got some great stuff as gifts for friends and family. Secondly, everything else other reviewers said, location/scenary/service all top notch. So why 1 star... More

Surrounding Location and wildlife: Although the migration was not AT the camp while we visited, it was quite near. There is plenty to see in the surrounding area including leopards, lions, and tens of thousands of wildebeest and zebras, with PLENTY of babies being dropped as far as the eye could see (Feb.18-19-20). There are forrest and plains in the... More

We spent 3 nights in this very special tented accommodation. The location was outstanding with excellent game viewing in very close proximity to the camp. We came to see the great migration and we were treated to a spectacular display. The stunning location is used to full advantage. Sundowners and soft pillows on the rocks, camp fire with blankets at... More

The setting is amazing right in the heart of all of the wildlife, just seconds away from the migration. We could not fault a single mouthful of food including the pack lunches which were brilliant. The staff were very helpful and catered for my awkward dietary needs. The tents would give any luxury hotel a run for their money and... More

I spent 3 nights fabulous nights here at the end of a long East Africa trip. It is the only permanent camp in this part of the Serengeti. It is located on a granite outcropping with 360 views of the Serengeti. My last morning they served me coffee at sunrise on the rock. Spectacular. Everything was excellent: the food was... More

We stayed here for one night as part of our 2 week safari in Tanzania. The room/tent was quite luxurious and the staff were very accomodating and hospitable. It is in the middle of the Serengeti, so a staff member had to accompany us to and from our room after dark. Lodge is remote and roads leading here can be... More

Amenities

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Part of Sanctuary Kusini's charm is its remote and private location within the park, offering exceptional and essentially private game viewing. Built around a spectacular rocky outcrop, or kopje, the camp's communal areas include a dining area, lounge and library, as well as a campfire. The views from the kopje are simply sensational - the perfect spot for sundowners and stargazing. The library is stocked with reference books to read up on the day's discoveries, and of course, our experienced guides are always on hand to fill in about local knowledge where books cannot. Like all Sanctuary properties, Sanctuary Kusini is designed to have minimal environmental impact, in fact the camp can be packed up and removed without leaving a trace. The open-plan ensuite twelve tents at Sanctuary Kusini are shaded from the sun by acacia trees and all are positioned carefully with thought out views of the surrounding plains and extremely spacious at 48 square metres. Each tent has its own personal attendant to look after guests during their stay and feature mosquito netting, hairdryers and in-room safe. A large private wooden veranda with comfortable furnishings extends in front of each tent, with many having views of the plains below where zebra, buffalo and lion are a common sight year-round, the ideal spot to relax for a sundowner after a hot restorative shower. ... more   less
