I got to stay at the Al Uruba for a few nights and cause it is cheap for the location one needs to call ahead to make a booking as the rooms are almost always full. It also has a marriage policy for couples. Other than that it was a basic, clean and cheap hotel. The immediate area surrounding the...

My wife and I spent one terrible night in this hotel in the beginning of ‘13. Some points: dirty rooms and bathrooms (I say very dirty), bad location (not walk around at night, stay alert during the day), no restaurant near (walk something like 30 minutes), noisy air conditioning and little or nothing prepared staff. Just do not stay in...

I really like the AL URUBA ..it is situated very close to Kariakoo market , yet safe to walk and explore around during daytime. Rooms are all standard size but have very comfortable beds , TV with limited channels , hot water showers and a/c or fan. There are balconies running the whole length of the building at the front...

Great little hotel in a non-touristy area of Dar Es Salaam, it isn't the most glamorous place in the world, but the staff were friendly, the rooms were very basic but clean. Our rooms each had a little TV, a double bed, a fridge, desk and a chair. There were also en suites to our rooms which were clean and...

This is not really a review as I never actually got to stay at the Al Aruba despite several efforts to do so! My husband and I called the hotel several times to try to book a room and each time the person we spoke with just kept telling us that it was not suitable for us as a couple...

I stayed at the Al Uruba for one night after getting the boat accross from Zanzibar to fly back home the next day. It's a basic, clean and cheap which is well run and perfect for what I was looking for. Kiriakii is also a great place to go for an explore and the restraunt downstairs is also fantastic if...

My husband and I stayed here on a trip that combined a conference for him and vacation for us. This was my first trip to Africa (my husband's nth) and I wanted to stay in a locally-run hotel at a modest price and choose the Al-Uruba based on the other reviews from this website. I was a little surprised the...

Just stayed a couple of days in this hotel in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. Kariakoo is near the city center mainly known for it's market. It's a very vibrant, hectic place with a lot bussiness going own. It's nice and interesting but not the area you want to be if you're looking for something calm. The Al Uruba hotel is...

Dar Es Salaam is not tourist central, but this hotel is an excellent place to stay while in transit. The neighborhood is like so many in the region...busy, not very attractive, etc,. but the convenience of having a clean, better than average restaurant downstairs is a big plus. The rooms are clean, well-furnished and air-conditioned. We were more than pleased...
