I traveled through Dar es Salaam this summer and stayed at this facility both coming and going. The rooms are set up dormitory style with multiple beds sharing a bathroom. I stayed in a larger room on the first trip that included a common area, 3 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. My second room had 2 bunk beds, a twin bed,...

The staff at FPCT goes above and beyond! Friendly and inviting they seem eager to serve. The kitchen staff only speaks Swahili but the office staff speak English as well. There is a beautiful view of the lagoon. The en suite bathrooms and air conditioning almost make up for the uncomfortable beds. There are mosquito nets though mine had holes....

If you're on a budget and need a cheap place to stay that is safe with mosquito nets, air conditioning (that works most of the time), meals available, and airport transport and luggage storage available... then this is for you. When I'm on a budget and need a simple no frills place to sleep for a night or two this...

This church-based b&b is a good option if you are on tight budget (I think I paid Tshs 30000/night in June 2012), want a quiet place, and are prepared to go a bit off the city centre. It is quiet, green and friendly, and has secure parking. The location is nice next to the lagoon, although there is no beach....
