This is a standard african hotel. In other words the room is not very inviting but strictly functional and the bathroom very basic. (We had no water when we were there, but that can happen in Dar.) In fairness I have to say, that the room was clean and quiet, considering it is located in Kariakoo. So if you just...

There were four of us traveling together and looking for safe, clean, and reasonably priced lodging for one night. The Riki Hill seemed from the description to fit the bill. We were planning to rent two rooms and asked to see them. We thoroughly checked everything in one room (air conditioner, sink water, toilet to see if it flushed, and...

Looking for somewhere cheap with clean rooms, reliable hot shower, a/c and somewhere to get a cool beer (Bar across the road) before the flight home then this is good value. Rooms are a bit small though

The lobby(?) is dark, small, strange, in a unpaved road, a bit scary if you arrive at night, and the room is not nice. But is well located (though not very near the harbour) and everything works relatively well. Seems to fit better for business travellers. I would recommend for budget travellers

Shower didn't work, breakfast basic but ok. Dar Es Salaam is not a tourist friendly place, by all means use this place for a stop over...

We stayed for two nights here before heading to Zanzibar. Room was basic and clean, with mosquito net and air con, which was very welcome. Shower had hot water. A really good choice for budget or mid-range travelers ($54 US a night for air con double). On a side street, and guarded by security it seemed most of the time....

“If you should ignore our advice and decide to try it, check EVERYTHING out before you pay and insist on accommodation if something fails while you are there. Rooms away from the street are best.”
