This traditional riad located right in the middle of Tangiers' medina was renovated by a young Tangerine interior's designer, Walid Bennis. You will be enthraled by its imposing dimensions and its area fully dedicated to calmness and comfort. Behind a finely crafted wooden door, a magnificent guest house is hidden, where Meriem, Soumaya and Paul will welcome you warmly and will make you discover Tangiers with all the senses.
I stayed in Dar Souran with my mum for 3 nights on our 2 weeks trip around Morocco in September 2018. This was at the end of our trip and it was definetely the best riad we stayed at. It was a lovely end to our trip. The place is stunning; classy, clean, airy and full of light. We were in room 1 and it was beautifully decorated, clean and full of light. The terrace is lovely with great views over the city. The breakfast was also better than in all other places we stayed at. We were treated to a few complimentary glasses of wine/beer which was a really nice gesture as we were not expecting it. I loved everything about this place and I would love to stay there again.
Cannot rate this place better. We agree with the reviews below.
The location in the Medina is great, albeit a little hard to find. It is also near the ferry port and close to the railway station. We were given cold bottled water on arrival and each day.
The staff were great - especially Nora, who gave great shopping and food advice to my wife, cooked special gluten free food for my breakfast, organised an excellent guide for a better price than we could get, and (with owner Paul, a gentleman himself) gave us a lift to the railway station and made sure we got the correct train tickets.
Our room was large, had a comfortable king bed with an extra single bed on a mezzanine floor / loft, was super clean and exotically furnished with Moroccan furniture and art works. It was a little noisy from the Medina but, being Ramadan, that was part of the experience.
The wifi and TV were both very good and there was a decent safe.
The bathroom was large and beautiful, with luxury towels and comps, and a good hot water supply.
Breakfast on the roof was fun, with crepes, eggs, fruit, fresh OJ, excellent coffee, tasty bread for my wife and rice for me.
We loved our visit and cannot recommend this place enough.
My family and I stayed at Dar Souran our last night in Tangier. First of all, the place is beautiful. The decoration is so carefully thought out, and every detail adds something lovely to the ambience of the hotel. It even has an elevator, a rare find in the old Medina, and a beautiful terrace with a view of the city and ocean. It is well located in the Medina, 5 minutes to reach any place in the Medina and 20 minutes to the beach. But even more importantly, the staff was so helpful. They helped communicate with our taxi driver to drop us off at the correct spot, and had sent someone from the hotel to help us with our luggage. We had a very early flight out of the Tangier airport and the staff arranged an early taxi for us. One of our flights was cancelled and we had to re-reserve it, which caused some disorganization on our part in the morning, and the staff at Dar Souran were extremely understanding and helpful. I wish that we could have stayed longer and I would highly recommend this place as an excellent retreat in the heart of Tangier.
My husband & I LOVED this riad. The room was spacious and comfortable and the management was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with the mint tea, fruit, and baked goods. My favorite was the fresh squeezed orange juice! The rooftop gave my husband a quiet, comfortable place to work on some of his graduate school work, and we really enjoyed being in the center of the historical district to wander through the maze and shop. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Clean hotel in Old Madina in Tangier. The staff are friendly and helpful. Munir is friendly and a great host. The location is perfect if you like to stay in Old Madian and close to Kasba. The breakfast on terrace is highlight of our stay. I will be back.

Yes, we stayed at Dar Souran, and their recommended guide Said was excellent. Unfortunately I don’t believe we have his contact information, but I’m sure Dar Souran can provide it. I would highly recommend a day trip to Chefchaouen with Said. Reasonably priced, and well worth it. Our favorite little city in Morocco by far.
