I arrived at 9am from an early morning flight, four hours before check-in. I knocked. A warm housekeeper opened the door, smiled, and offered me breakfast. I asked if I could check in and she waved me off. “First, mister, you relax.” I wandered over toward the food. The interior of the large house was a mosaic of cozy embroidered nooks from which seemed to organically spring the best art, books, and treasures in Tangier. I made a plate of olives, fruit, cheese, and bread, poured a coffee, and sat down with three students who had also arrived early. The kind woman then invited us all to relax on the roof, a Garden of Eden high enough to see the Médina, the Sea, and Spain beyond. We chatted, munched, and napped until around noon when our host arrived and invited us down to “sort it all out” in a cozy office full of vintage maps and clocks. He perused our passports, received our dirhams, scribbled a thorough sketch of a perfect day in the Médina on a paper map, and showed us to our rooms. I don’t know which was prettier: the dormitory with its rustic beam ceiling and warm decor or the bathroom with its tile work and eclectic earthenware. Once he was satisfied that we had our bearings he took his leave, but not before inviting us to join him and his guests that evening for a party and tapas at his favorite local spot. Of course we went. It was heaven. And he even made sure to call me a taxi for my early flight the following morning.
I know that Tangier is shimmering with world-class hotels along its waterfront. But when I return, I will stay nowhere else but in this little corner of quiet joy.
Thank Mark G

Good standard hostel type accommodations. Be aware, some rooms have triple decker bunk beds. No lockers for large backpacks or luggage but they do have small ones that can accommodate a day back sized bag. Very friendly staff, adequate breakfast, decent location. Noise does carry in the hostel. It has a nice roof top terrace that has a small kitchen for guests and a few different tiers and seating options.

The best part of Bayt Alice was Fabian, its owner. She was kind, helpful, and incredibly accomodating! My traveling buddy and I had booked a taxi to take us to/from Chefchaouen for a day trip and she was able to call them and amend our booking reservation so we could enjoy a delicious breakfast on the terrace before our departure! Plus - she even allowed us to take a shower once we returned (we only stayed one night) before we got on our midnight train to Marrakech.

She also introduced us to a trusted driver who was able to assist in taking us to an ATM and the train station where we had to exchange our overnight train tickets to first class for our trip to Marakkech - he translated for us and was able to get us the right tickets we needed, and THEN drove us back at 11 PM the next day!

The personal touches made this stay even better - highly highly recommend!

I had a fantastic 2 nights stay at Bayt Alice and probably the best shower and sleep in Morocco. The place is very clean and the people are helpful and friendly. The house is amazingly gorgeous and the beautiful terrace is great for breakfast and socializing in the evenings. Location is great but the back alley to the accommodation can be a little intimidating after dark. The recommended eating places by the staff are also great for food and value. They help me with the taxi for an early morning flight which was great as the taxi driver will come to the door to pick you up. The only downside is the slow internet but that didn’t bother me alot. Great place and i wished i had stayed longer.

Located in a hidden alley in the old medina, this is a nice family run hostel. The building has a lot of charm, Located close to the petit socco. Breakfast on the rooftop was delicious with a lot of options.
