I have stayed in luxury boutique hotels around the world, but this place stands apart as incomparable on so many levels. I have rarely seen a staff that so consistently makes every effort to see to a guest's comfort, and with such charm. Whether it was providing wine by our room's fireplace, or tea and cookies on the terrace, Karim seemed to be there around the clock to fulfill any request and answer any questions. The owner Fred was a gracious and attentive host, and checked in regularly to see if there was any way he could make our stay more enjoyable. He insisted on upgrading the small though charming room my husband and I first booked, when he discovered there was a cancellation for the Cream Suite, which is highly recommended. Our family's two rooms were both spotless, spacious with high ceilings, elegant yet cozy and filled with stylish details; the entire property's interior design creatively presented unique, contemporary takes on traditional Moroccan culture. Every space was an aesthetic delight, including the gorgeous, peaceful pool and rooftop terrace. We had one of the best meals of our entire stay in Morocco at the rooftop Bistro. The presentation and creative use of local ingredients were more sophisticated than some of the most expensive restaurants we tried in both Fez and Marrakech. There are many Riads to choose from in Fez, but impossible to imagine improving upon this one. A trip to Fez is worth it, just to stay here.

It started with Omar, who picked us up at the Casablanca airport. He was wonderful. Once we arrived near the Riad, our van was met by a helpful man (don't know his name) who put our things in a cart and guided us to the Riad. We had the Orange Suite, a room that was comfortable and spacious. And so beautiful! It was on the main floor. The restaurant is up stairs, so be prepared for a good heart-racing before eating breakfast. And the breakfast is worth it! Home made and local. We ate dinner there twice, once with the a la carte menu, and once with the Moroccan menu. Both dinners were delicious. We had a traditional hammam and massage our first full day. I highly recommend it. The hamman is a unique experience. The room is extremely clean. We got requests for restaurants from the staff and they scheduled a 1:1 tour of the area by a scholar. This was the only slight negative. The guide was very knowledgeable, but he didn't have a sense of humor and his storytelling was factual but dry. We learned a lot, but it wasn't as enjoyable as we had hoped. Everyone at the Riad we talked to was always happy, smiling, and helpful. They seem to help out in departments that may not be theirs, always with a smile. Karim, Badiaa, Rajae, Malek, Anwar, and the others, thank you for making our 5 nights in Fes so magical!

We stayed here in June 2021. We could not have felt more welcome at the Riad Laaroussa, where they treated us like one of their family. The staff, along with Cathy and Fred and their adorable children, are all amazing. The Riad itself is absolutely gorgeous and a calm and peaceful oasis in the middle of the Medina. Rooms are all beautiful and there are many wonderful sitting rooms and terraces to enjoy. We ate breakfast on the terrace each day and had an amazing view of the city. Breakfasts were lavish and delicious. We ate dinner at the Riad one night and that was also delicious. They were very accommodating of my food allergies. Because of the heat, we tended to do our touring in the morning and early afternoon, and then relax at the lovely pool in the afternoon. They were very helpful when it came to getting our PCR tests to depart Morocco.

If you are wondering whether to stay inside or outside the Medina — it’s much, much more fun to be inside the Medina. It will be harder to get a real feel for this part of Fes if you stay outside the medina. We parked our car at the Ain Azitlen car park where there is 24 hour guard and the porter met us there with a luggage car (you have to tell them what time you will arrive and it’s best if you have your phone turned on so you can communicate any changes) and we walked the 10 minutes to the Riad. After doing it once, we knew the way and could walk back and forth on our own if we needed to use the car (which we did for one of our tours). Both the hotel and all of the restaurants will walk you to and from the hotel if you are worried about getting lost. The hotel connected us with a guide named Idris who was terrific.

Truly an amazing place and we would happily stay here again. (There are a lot of stairs so if you are older, ask for a room on the first floor — I was paying attention on behalf of my older parents for their someday trip!).

My daughter and I stayed in the Orange Room for 2 nights during our 1 week stay in Fez. It was my favourite accommodation. On arrival we were served mint tea in the Riad’s lovely gardens and the room was spectacular with very high ceilings and a mezzanine for my daughter to sleep on, which gave us the privacy and space required. The rooms and architecture of the Riad were exquisite, without being over opulent or gaudy. The service was great and we were looked after by happy, friendly, attentive staff. Nothing was too much bother.

When I was in UK before travelling, I was having trouble booking bus tickets to Chefchaouen, so the hotel bought them for us. When I was asking how to reach the Riad from our previous accommodation in Fez, they sent a porter to us to pick up our bags and guide us. We ate the Bistro on the roof terrace and the food was good, without being pretentious. There is also a small pool for cooling off as Fez gets very hot, around 40-45.

I think this Riad is perfect balance between authentic experience and luxury and I think the price is good for what we got, around £190 per night including breakfast. I’d like to visit again one day. Thank you Riad Laaroussa

We had only several hours left in Fez and after a full itinerary of traveling we wanted to slow down and relax. This French owned Riad is gorgeously appointed with a large courtyard, swimming pool, sun lounging recliners, pool side service, various outdoors and indoors dining areas with rooftop views. We were not able to appreciate the message services because we did not plan ahead with making reservations but our host graciously invited us to enjoy their facilities without being guests at their hotel. We we welcomed by an incredibly service oriented staff whom were attentive to our desires. The restaurant chief Ishmael (spelling?) greeted us warmly like a long-standing friend. He prepared delicious Magret de canard, pâtés du jour, and soups du jour at the highest culinary standards that impressed us beyond our expectations. Many thanks to our host and their staff for our several hours of relaxation. There is no wonder this Riad has the endorsement of the highest ratings by so many travelers.

I expected Riad Laaroussa to be wonderful by reading previous reviews, but I was still more than impressed! We spent 3 days there in late September. If you stay, take advantage of transportation pick up services, tour guides, the spa, and the bistro. Everything was done very well.

Very unassuming from the outside, the riad’s beauty is inside. The area and its room are large, well-maintained, and decorated with great attention to history and detail. The courtyard is a lush tropical oasis, and the terraces on the top offer magnificent views.

The real beauty however is in the staff/team! We felt a bit like royalty, as everyone seemed to attend to every need and did so with more than a smile. We had wonderful conversations with several. They seemed genuinely happy to see us each day and we were genuinely happy to see and visit with each of them. ( We miss you already). Riad Laaroussa‘s staff really does function as a team. Everyone helps with everything and they are very proud of the Riad , as well they should be. The soul of Riad Laaroussa shines!

We can’t recommend this riad highly enough!! It’s absolutely gorgeous, a blend of traditional architecture with updated appliances. Everyone is so nice as well! Karim greeted us at the door and quickly felt like a friend! He helped us book a hamam experience within the riad as well as an incredible day tour with Mohammad Bousfiha. We couldn’t have seen as much as Fez as we did without this amazing tour that featured historical sights and a look into the workmanship of many of the city’s artisans. The rooftop breakfasts at the riad were absolutely delicious and the views were amazing. The riad has two cats who won’t bother you if you’re not a cat person as they stay in the outdoor courtyard, but if you are a cat person, they’re so friendly and adorable! The riad is also environmentally conscious and gives back to the community which is really special. Since there aren’t too many rooms, it truly feels like you’re in your own extravagant home with beautiful outdoor and indoor common spaces. We had such an incredible experience here and hope this spurs others to stay here as well!

We had a very warm welcome on arrival.. Whole Stay was awesome. All the staff was very professional and they stayed in touch with us the day of arrival to find out what time we will be there, made reservations to the restaurant and asked us about any special needs, we are vegetarian and kids wanted pasta and chef made a tasty vegetarian pasta for them which was not even in the menu. We ate at the Mediterranean restaurant and food was delicious. Breakfast was very tasty. We stayed in cream suite.. Loved the room!

Similar to other reviews, I found the staff amazing . They went out of their way to help you out, carrying packages you bought to your room, bringing you wine to your room, recommending wines to drink, bringing you cold water. I stayed in Gizlane for 4 nights. It's a beautiful place, and my room opened into a reading room, complete with interesting books. I never tried the pool, although it looked wonderful and was the reason I stayed there. Toiletries include rose water and black soap. Free water every day. Breakfast is great: homemade breads, jams, yogurt, and Moroccan pancakes. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs with the local meat, the name of which I've already forgotten. It spoiled me for my next riad, which also had homemade yogurt, but was not as good. (in addition, I don't even like yogurt but really enjoyed the sweetened yogurt at Laaroussa). I visited the rooftop every evening, if just for wine or to read a book or work. I checked out another place that was much less expensive that I decided not to stay at this time, but I will probably return to Laarousa because of the staff. Congrats, you have an amazing place!

The riad arranged a driver to pick us up in Tangier, stop in Chefchaoun and then drive us to the Riad in Fes. They would be able to arrange a driver to Casablanca. You can also fly to Fes to Casablanca.
