Detailed Reviews
This is nice hotel to spend a weekend or stay on a businecc trip, about a 5-min drive from the local Medina, or a 15-min walk. The whole sector is quite modern, and the hotel boasts queit cool rooms, an outdoor pool and a spa-gym centre, which was nice to use for a morning run and some power lifting. The spa offers a sauna and massage, the room service provides dinner to your door, although the food of the hotel's restaurant is of no interest (see the review of my dining experince under the same name). The hotel is child friendly and the order of alcohol is limited at the pool side bar.

The hotel is well located within the city. Very close (5minutes walk) from a big mall. The hotel on itself is alright and clean. Member of staff are also welcoming.
However, the restaurant is just appalling. They charge $15 for basically a frozen steak and fries (Macdonald happy meal size). Very disappointed and the service of a fast food restaurant.
I would recommand the hotel but the restaurant NO unless you have no other choice.
Management please improve the restaurant service and food quality.

Hotel Technician came to room almost immediately after our arrival to make sure we knew how to turn on air conditioning and use the lights.
He was kind, helpful and even had a sense of humor.
During our trip, he maintained this same level congeniality and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and important.
A great, great guy!!!

We stayed here as part of a Gate 1 tour and honestly it is the worst hotel experience I have ever had as part of a tour group. I have already grown really disenchanted with guided tours as they have really gone down hill over the past few years or so, but my mom is older and likes the structure of them so we went ahead and did this one. Hotels like this are exactly why I stopped doing tours.
I immediately had a bad feeling when I saw our room was on a floor with active construction. Once I opened the door I saw they had ONE bed for me, my mom and my sister. I'm a 25 year old man, my mom's 63 and my sister is pushing 40. Under no condition should we have ONE bed. We had to fight and argue with them to bring in an extra bed for me. Once they did, everything was ok until the evening when we saw a literal colony of ants crawling on the floor. We brought this up to the front desk and they did nothing to address our concerns. I have attache pictures of the ants and have videos of them crawling over the room and beds, TA does not allow videos though.
The toilet also did not flush and was constantly stopped up. Guest service people go home around 11 so there was no one downstairs to address our concern and we basically had to sleep with a stopped up gross toilet.
But wait, there's more. When we woke up in the morning to head on our tour for the day we discovered upwards of 50 small ants crawling around on the coffee table and under the coffee pot was a stain that had clearly been there for WEEKS at least. Meaning the Barceló staff do not properly clean their facilities and are not sanitising the rooms after guests. At this point we were beyond done and demanded that we get a new room, which they obliged. But for the amount of money we spent on a gate one tour to have experiences like this is totally unacceptable.
Moving on from the room, there is a resteraunt that has subpar food, but there's not much else in the area to eat so you're kinda stuck with it. Even though the food was bad, the staff there were very kind and helpful so I will give them a break for that.
The staff at the front desk were largely helpful, but they had to be begged to bring us more towels and other requests. I really hate having to call the front desk 100 times for a towel. Just put enough towels for the evening AND morning in the room.
We were not the only ones on our tour to have a bad experience either. Our friends on the tour said they had to call the front desk dozens of times to get their shower head fixed and they had no warm water. Insane.
Overall, very poor experience and I would urge everyone to avoid this place. I have no idea how it has so many stars.

When I first arrived a young male was at the front desk so the conversation was initiated with him. A female came out from the office and took over. She went through the check in process. She assumed that my sister and I were sharing a room and we were not. After we each received our room keys the young man took our luggage to our rooms. The room was very nice but I had a problem with the A.C. I called the front desk and someone came up right away. He took care of the issue and all was well. The next day I scheduled a hammam and massage. The young lady did a GREAT GREAT job. This was my first time I had a hammam and it was really nice. Later in the day I ate lunch at in the restaurant. I went to the desk to pay my bill. The young lady did not have enough money to given me all my change. She said to come back later. That was my mistake. The bill should have been settled at the time in full. When I asked for the change later after having dinner at the hotel that evening she denied owing me. I initially said breakfast but it was actually lunch. The young lady worked the lunch and dinner shift on this day. She still denied owing me. Someone who spoke the language spoke to her and she gave me the balance. Any financial exchange should always be completed at the time the service is rendered. No one should be asked to come back later. The hotel is in a good spot and the mall is down the street. They also have a pool outside.

Dear M. Bloombright, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Your feedback is very important to us and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding what you mentioned about the change, after investigating we noticed that the waitress offered to give you the remaining change, which was 2 dirhams, equivalent to 20 cents once you come back on diner, and you agreed upon it. While on diner, you were three persons and the waitress gave you 10 dirhams and one of the ladies gave her 8 dirhams back, and it was set. We are surprised that you highlighted this given the fact that sum is not considerable. We hope to see you soon so we may welcome you with our best smile and make you feel at home. The hotel sits in prominent spot across the street from a major mall with Carrefour, fast food restaurants, clothing stores and more (including a liquor store for those inclined). While the old Medina is not a reasonable walking distance, it is a short drive, and a car can be arranged by hotel. There is a nice park in the center of the boulevard for an early-evening walk. The hotel restaurant is average at best; however, there are two or three decent restaurants within a 10 - 15-minute walk of the hotel. The hotel does have a small bar. There is also a nice terrace around the swimming pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the maintenance man, Mostafa, He was communicative and very prompt to demonstrate how to use the air conditioning, the hotel safe and to resolve any other issue, e.g., replace a burned out bulb. Mostafa does a good job representing the hotel.
It is good to return to a clean comfortable hotel after touring the Medina and other sites of Fez. One area to watch is the elevator door is one of the fastest closing doors you will find anywhere.

I came to Morocco with great expectations, specially for the people. I was unlucky. Both hotels, one in Marrakech and this in Fes had big issues to provide the standard service for 4*. Barcelo is well positioned, close to shops and restaurants, good swimming pool (bad towels), the room was fresh renovated but with paint smell, no air condition working properly (room changed), no toilet brush, no night tables, no kettle (we brought from previous room) and tea cups, no telephone in the room (they bring one but the network was not working) and other small issues that did not made the room confortable. I am sure that most of them will be fixed in the near future. People are helpfull and verry polite.

Dear Alex, Thank you for taking the time reviewing your stay with us at Barcelo Fes Medina. We wanted to offer you the best room, which for us is the recently renovated one. However we had not taken into account the smell of the paint, but your constructive remark will allow us to prevent this to the next guests. We are still happy to know that you were still able to benefit from the friendliness and kindness of our team. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL SERVICE. You wait 30 minutes just to be served then once served you wait another 20 to revieve what you ordered. As for the hotel it is an absolute scam. Nowhere near the medina, overpriced and terrible decor with a puddle for a swimming pool. Better to book a riad in the medina with an authentic experience!

Newer “western style” hotel.
Nice room, clean, well presented, comfortable bed, friendly staff, large variety of foods in included buffet breakfast.
Location is on major thoroughfare and a room in the street side might be a little noisy for some but I had no issues sleeping.
Couldn’t fault anything in my stay except one lift needed a bid of maintenance as the doors slapped shut on you quickly and rather noisily giving some people a fright.
Nearby huge carrefour in a modern shopping centre for any supplies you might need

We had two nights at the Barcelo and overall found it to be very good. The hotel is well located and has a shopping centre less than five minutes away (which has cash machines). The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and well decorated throughout. Our room was a double, it was a good size, clean, comfortable and quiet. It had tea / coffee making, a safe, tv and a good sized bathroom with a seperate toilet.
The restaurant was ok but is quite small and got very crowded. Our meals were buffet style which was ok but the selection was not great. What saved the day for us was the pasta and noodle bar (omlette at breakfast) which was very good.
Overall a good hotel which I would recommend.

I only had breakfast once and paid 90 MAD for 1 person. It was very good.
Dear guest,
Regarding your request, there is a list for laundry and dry cleaning services in your room, if you check for example, ironing has a service charge of 25-50 MD depending on the garment you want to iron. You fill out the attached card indicating which items of clothing are in the bag and whether you would like each item washed, dried and folded, dry cleaned or ironed.
Again, I appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, please let me know if there is anything else I could help you with.
There is a refridgerator in the room - milk easily available at corner stores
Dear guest,
The weather is nice, around 21° it is warm and sunny!
See you until then!
