The website says “double bed for 4 people”. The room had FOUR beds. I booked one of these. The “single bed” rooms had THREE beds each. I booked two of these. I had a group of eight and basically ended up booking 10 beds due to incorrect room info on the website. Also two rooms had no hot running water. The “private parking” is not private at all. It’s basically street parking available for up to only 15 vehicles.
The hotel claimed that my hotel was declined but after contacting my bank, the bank said that it was the hotel not completing the transaction properly. After telling the front desk the problem was on their end, they were still unable to accept any of my cards. Forcing me to pay with cash. I was able to use all my cards that evening at other locations around the hotel without problem. The room was okay and the free breakfast was lacking but for the time price, can't complain too much about that.
Sister & I stayed here overnight, on way to Roatan. The room was clean & beds were comfortable, with good hot water in shower, also. However, there were no tv channels in English, only Spanish. The employees at front desk tried to be helpful, but there's a huge language barrier here. We had also made arrangements with them for a pickup from airport, with dates, times and flight info, but no one showed up. Luckily they were able to get us to the airport the next morning. Last yr we stayed at a bed & breakfast that was closer to the university, & we definitely prefer that neighborhood, over this one.
Its a rather cheap hotel, nearby San Pedro Sula's "zona viva", ideal for party goers and it also works for business trips. The hotel rooms are average sized with a comfortable bed, although they look nicer on photos. The bad: the parking lot is rather small and overall the hotel might need to start some maintenance fixtures. The good: they have funky-problem-solving staff and really nice inner garden where natural plants "cascade" from the above floors. Plain and simple: you get what you pay for.
The many times I have stayed in Hotel Martell I have had nothing but good experience and wonderful service. The staff is most gracious and helpful and the location is convenient for it is close to restaurants and the mall. The rooms have wonderful beds, they are clean and have enough "closet" space for a person traveling light, especially on business. It has it all...wifi, hot water, cable tv, parking area but most important...IT HAS A RESTAURANT and the food is delicious!!! Believe me, this place has become famous for its chicken wings recipe. I highly reccomend this hotel!
